Only the best steakhouses survive in Chicago, and N9NE has become a Windy City favorite. It certainly has the right pedigree -- owner Michael Morton is the son of the legendary Arnie Morton, founder of Morton's Steakhouses, and the brother of Hard Rock Cafe creator Peter Morton. Taking the best elements from both places, N9NE serves quality cuts of meat in a sassy setting of limestone, mirrored mosaics, dark walnut wood and leather furniture. Any steak that comes out of a kitchen owned by someone named Morton is going to be big, prime-aged and still sizzling when it reaches the table. Most diners stick to the red meat, but seafood lovers may opt for herb-roasted salmon with crabmeat bread pudding, accompanied by spicy cioppino broth. The champagne and caviar bar, with its fiber-optically lit drink rail, is a fun place to linger before or after the meal.

  • best in vegas ...

Being a local I've been to more than a few. This is without a doubt the best steak house in town ... If you are lucky they might have the ribeye for two w/peppercorn sauce and wild mushroom mashed potatoes ... OH MY GOD!! As for the gentleman who was a little nervous hosting a dinner in a "in house restaurant" in a Vegas casino ... first time to Vegas in a while huh?

  • Great food/service, but loud!

I've eaten at N9NE Steakhouse at least 100 times, so the staff knows me and my friends. I'm sure that means that I always get the best treatment. Martinis have three shots of vodka in them. Favorite appetizers are sashimi N9NE and popcorn shrimp. Caviar to the N9NEs is also good, comes on mini potato pancakes. Steaks are all fantastic, pick your favorite. Or have a Kobe burger, delicious! Best mac & cheese side dish anywhere, or have garlic mashed potatoes. Light eaters can make a meal from the garbage salad. Apple crumble with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Go early on a weekday to avoid the noise, opens at 5:30.

Having checked in to the KingPin Suite, I was apprehensive on hosting several clients in "the house restaurant" at a casino in Las Vegas. Was I surprised when the wine list had 4 of my favorite Cabs featured foremost at the top of the list. The filet and lobster was supurb, and the service was better than Flemings in Newport Beach. I will be back as soon as I can. They rank higher than Ruth Chris Steakhouse!

  • can you argue with success?

The 3 of us are babyboomers. My second visit to N9NE. We went early on a Tuesday to avoid the crowd and loud music. It was not to be. By 6:30 the place was packed. We had fun, the food was great. The wine is overpriced. The noise level is intentional. For some reason it works at the Palms. If you want
a quiet, romantic evening, this is not the restaurant. I asked the
waiter if it was possible to turn down the music just a little, he
said that this is the way the owners want it. An honest response.
My question, what about what the patron wants?

  • Phenominal steak!!!!!

I had the bone-in filet, and it was the best that I've EVER HAD! Eating at N9NE when you're in Vegas is a must.

  • Definitely Hip, food not so hip!

    Review rating : 4out of 5   wcdtwoods - 11/10/2004

The atmosphere was definitely hip and young and beautiful, but I must say I was disappointed with the food.
I orderd the steak and lobster. While the steak was decent, the lobster was terrible! It really had a rubber feel to it. The mac n cheese was good, as was the garbage salad. Again, it was GOOD, but for the price (which is a la carte and very $$) I was expecting better food.
No complaints about the service, though. The Sommelier was a joy!
