Only the best steakhouses survive in Chicago, and N9NE has become a Windy City favorite. It certainly has the right pedigree -- owner Michael Morton is the son of the legendary Arnie Morton, founder of Morton's Steakhouses, and the brother of Hard Rock Cafe creator Peter Morton. Taking the best elements from both places, N9NE serves quality cuts of meat in a sassy setting of limestone, mirrored mosaics, dark walnut wood and leather furniture. Any steak that comes out of a kitchen owned by someone named Morton is going to be big, prime-aged and still sizzling when it reaches the table. Most diners stick to the red meat, but seafood lovers may opt for herb-roasted salmon with crabmeat bread pudding, accompanied by spicy cioppino broth. The champagne and caviar bar, with its fiber-optically lit drink rail, is a fun place to linger before or after the meal.

  • Great Evening at N9ne

    Review rating : 4out of 5   DishyDiner - 08/25/2008

I had to laugh reading the review by dontwantone85. Thank goodness this isn't a family restaurant! N9ne offers delicious steaks, gnocchi to die for, and fabulous service. We had a party of 12, and the staff was friendly and attentive. By the way, the $69 margarita is a novelty, not the norm and last time I checked, wine in most restaurants is marked up several times. For those of us who prefer a slick, fine dining experience with top notch fare - N9ne is a great choice. dontwantone may prefer a night at Denny's and a stop at the liquor store afterwards for a cheap bottle of hooch.

  • One of the best!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   heaterpie76 - 06/26/2008

If you've dined at steakhouses in vegas with any consistantly, you can't complain about the price at N9NE (they are extremely competitive with their food and wine list) Watching the staff work on a busy night is a pleasure. They do so much business, but still put a personal touch on your dinner! Top to bottom, if you wanna have a hip, fun, dinner with great food and an atmosphere of energy and celebraty, N9NE can't be topped!

  • Ain't that Great !

    Review rating : 2out of 5   TJnGV - 06/11/2008

I've dined at N9NE three times and had 2 meals that weren't up to par. The place is too expensive not to have a consistantly good dining experience. Charlie Palmers or Strip House at PH are much better for the money.

  • Eating dinner in a club

    Review rating : 2out of 5   dontwantone85 - 05/19/2007

This is not a family resturaunt at all. It's like eating dinner in the middle of a dance club without the dancing. We couldn't even hear eachother talk. A top shelf Margarita was $69 and the bottle of champaign we got was $125 regular $35 in the stores. Service was very poor.

  • Food-Excellent, Service-Rare

    Review rating : 3out of 5   schupra - 05/06/2007

After reading the reviews here I made a reservation. I was emailed a 'contract'. It did not include my first-born, so I signed and faxed it back. We arrived early for our reservation and made it clear we were willing to wait if our table was not ready. Shortly thereafter we were shown to a table in a room off to the side of the main restaurant. One of the four tables was occupied by a very loud, raucous group. We could not hear our waiter, much less each other. We should have complained immediately, but we didn't. The waiter should have taken the initiative and moved us - there were empty tables that looked available. When I did finally complain, the manager told me that N9NE is a noisy restaurant. By then the group had left, and about 18 men were dining at the other three tables. They were not as noisy as the first group! I told the manager this, but he was not interested and offered no concession or even an apology. I didn't feel the restaurant was any noisier that others, but yelling is beyond noisy.
While the food *was* good, the lack of attention to our having an enjoyable dinner was inexcusable for a $650+ bill.

  • RARE is a redefined term.....

    Review rating : 5out of 5   nynitowl - 09/30/2006

Wowwww was my initial impression as I walked inside this incredible steakhouse packed with a diverse and assorted hungry souls of all different ages. Fact is, being a New Yorker who's been a restauranteur/club owner most of my life I found it amazing that Chef Dakkak ( etched on his chef Jacket ) actually made the rounds, approached each group of people at every table and asked if they're enjoying their meal and if there was anything else they needed or desired. You see, to me that's old school, taking care of business and making the customer feel special and important.........
That evening I was an unannounced guest of Mr. Joe Maloof and no one knew that till I asked for the bill, so my comments here are not biased but merely an observation from another food and beverage expert who highly commands and recommends N9NE for its rather loud atmosphere but great specialties as a steakhouse....

  • Young, loud, chic, expensive,

    Review rating : 5out of 5   markl202 - 08/06/2006

If you live around the top seven metro areas and have money, this is just another great meal at a great restaurant. But then again how much of America can afford sixteen dollar Saffire martinis or fifty-four dollar one pound filet on the bone? Well, me and my friends, of course, but that's beside the point. Anyway, enough about me, this is the place to go for a great time, great food and something different for 95% of the country that will never experience a place like this. Pry open the wallet and just GO!!
