But all thoughts of decor and ambiance vanish the moment the hamburgers arrive. Yes, Kilroy's offers other basic American fare, but anyone who knows what put the place on the map doesn't even bother to look at the menu. It's all burgers, all the time, and one is enough to fill the heartiest of appetites for the rest of the day.
The recipe for a great hamburger is hardly a closely guarded secret -- use fresh ground chuck, grind it up, and add a little seasoning (Kilroy's uses a dash of barbecue sauce). You'd think more places would have figured it out by now. But Kilroy's enormous half-pound burgers are grilled to order and come with a variety of toppings, from the traditional to the unique. The three-cheese mushroom burger is a popular choice. And if your sandwich is undercooked or overcooked, they'll make you another one, no questions asked. Krichard14 - 07/09/2008Stands alone versus this competition. That's saying a mouthful because most of the competitors are very, very good. But Kilroy's product is always consistent and of outstanding quality. We have never been disappointed, nor have any of our friends and family who have joined us there. Try it if you haven't already.

FP WILLSON - 06/17/2008Kilroy's had a great hamburger place. Then about 12 years ago they deleted about 2/3 of their menu. But what is left is still the best burger in town.

Sid Packer - 06/16/2008Probably the only reason anyone voted for the other candidates is that they've never had a Kilroy's burger. They're "to die for". Before you vote, go there, and have a burger - rare if you like. They use only the chuck, so rare works! Matter of fact, as I write this, I've decided to take the drive to Buffalo and Charleston and have lunch there today!

Ctrtess - 05/30/2008For years the best patty melt in the country was at a little bar/restaraunt across from the Boulevard Mall. When they got fancy and built a new, lovely shop over on Famingo near Eastern I was dismayed to find the menu and quality of food had changed. Lo and behold, one day a friend mentioned that the cook from the old place was at a new place out on Charleston and Buffalo (my neck of the woods, to boot!) I was more than pleasantly surprised to find my old favorite patty melt there! It is the best burger you can buy!!! (and not such a new shop any more!!-thus proving the test of time)
