For years the pattern was set -- you went to the Strip for money-is-no-object fine dining and visited the neighborhood hotel-casinos for less distinguished fare at more moderate prices. Hank's Fine Steaks & Martinis breaks this longstanding rule with gusto; located in Henderson's Green Valley Ranch Resort, the classy chophouse can match it's Strip counterparts in quality of entrees, the elegance of its surroundings and its ability to draw a celebrity clientele. However, the prices match as well. Expect to pay north of $40 for one of the four steak selections -- two on the bone, two off -- and close to that for the veal, pork, chicken and Chateaubriand. Sides and salads and appetizers are, of course, extra. But the dry martinis and live piano music soften the tab's impact.

Waited several weeks to get a reservation here and was looking forward to the experience as I am a steak afficianado. This was simply the worst experience of my Las Vegas dining career.
The waiter was "know it all" rude from the get go. Service started slow. After odering a medium rare NY Strip (if you are going to judge a steak house always go with the NY Strip for taste and texture - anyone can prepare a filet), my mouth watered for that first bite. I odered the 16oz.
As my steak was served, I couldn't help but notice how undersized it appeared. Looked more like a 12-14oz steak and by the he stiffened look I could immediately see this was not going to be what I had ordered. None-the-less I made my first cut and all suspicions were confirmed. WELL DONE. You could have painted it and used it for a hockey puck.
While everyone else in my party ate, I waited patiently for the waiter to return. 20 minutes later he retruned and asked how everything was. I voiced my displeasure and upon doing so, his said, "Sir, why don't you cut it in the middle?"
Pardon me? I said. To please him a took my knife and cut the thing in half. He removed my plate.
Ten minutes later the manager returns and asks if I'd like a side of something instead. I looked at him like he had four eyes. I said I just paid $46 for a NY strip but now my party was finished eating. I said no thanks, just the check.
They removed the steak from our bill, but at no time was there an offer to come back, here's my card, we'll make it up to you, nothing.
Hank's is overpriced in the first place. However, the snotty wait staff, aweful service, and obvious lack of caring by management make this the place to stay away from.
Instead try Hugo's Cellar in the Four Queens, or Flemings out in Summerlin, or Beckers or Prime, but for Godsake don't waste your money, your time, or your anticipation at Hanks. For a local casino steak house they seem not to care if you come back.best steak ever
This was the absolute finest NY strip leave in bone that I ever had anywhere. Worth every penny.
