DeLorenzo's serves up real Trenton tomato pies, which cannot be mistaken for Jersey pizza. Tomato pies are more about the sweet tomatoes than layers of gooey cheese, and sometimes the hint of cheese is actually found underneath the sauce. At DeLorenzo's, the chunky house-special tomato sauce takes center stage, and there is only a sprinkling of cheese. This wildly popular place is hidden on a residential street on the seedier side of town, and from the outside it doesn't look that promising. But once you actually get a table, you're enveloped in the warm, cozy feel and family atmosphere. It's a no-frills place, small and narrow, with booths, wood paneling and paper plates. There are no reservations, no menus, no bathrooms, no appetizers, no salads and no sides. People come here just for the famous pies, which are served piping hot from the oven with a perfectly thin, crispy and slightly smoky crust. The sausage, pepperoni and garlic pizzas are some of the most popular, and they're all amazing. The pepperoni is hand-sliced, so it looks nothing like the wafer-thin discs that you're served at every other ordinary pizza parlor. Don't expect regular slices here either; after all, "pizza" comes from the Italian word for a bird's beak and its triangular shape. DeLorenzo's tomato pies are cut once down the middle and then a few times across, so you may get a square, a triangle or even a trapezoid on your plate. Whatever the shape, you can bet it's delicious.

DeLorenzo's the next generation is what this new restaurant (1 year old ) is all about ,large dining room with both booth and table service with the attentive service for all the BYOB customers in both N J and those of us that travel from PA for their pizza and now salad menu , that are fresh,large and delicious worth waiting for in the new upscale shopping center where this restaurant takes center stage deservidly so.

The Trenton tomato pie is NOT pizza, but is a thin crust pie with crushed tomatoes and mozzerella cheese baked on top. DeLorenzo's makes the best Trenton style tomato pie.

First off let me start by saying this is directed to all of the (no bathroom) patrons of this fine establishment. What's the matter with you people? Are you looking for a really great, (No, the Best) Tomato Pie or was it that you were unable to truly enjoy your Tomato Pie due to your mate nagging in your ear, that she had to go potty. Maybe you were just out trying to get a job as the chief bathroom inspector for Trenton NJ. and couldn't find one. Is this what upset you? Don't you understand that this place is Grand-fathered, It has been a continuously run family business since JC was a corporal, it has more then likely have been around longer then you people with the bathroom fetish, and that they were around before it was required by law to have to have a bathroom for the publics use. To be around this long has to tell you a little something. (Da) Did you ever happen to think that by being able to take advantage this old law that it enables them in a nice way to have been able to keep the complainers like yourself's, OUT for all of this time. And if you think for one second that there are not rest room facilities on site for the employees, guess again. Have you people been living under a rock or what. This eating establishment is inspected by the board of health just like every other eating establishment in the city. Most likely more due to people like yourself's. To all of you complainers, please go else ware. I personally love to see people like yourselves have to pay more and still get abused. And to be honest with you it makes our wait in line a much more pleasant one with OUT you.

I grew up in Trenton and became a southerner 35 years ago! The only regret to this life is the absence of (Chambersburg) DeLorenzo's Pizza in my diet! It's all about TOMATO PIE, nothing else. And I'd travel there from anywhere to have the best! One of my favorite reasons for vsiting my brother(well, maybe not my favorite reason, but one of them) is to drive the 60+ miles from his house to Hudson Street for a 'pie.' If only Gary would move to HHI.!

I fly in from SC every October, and my happiest stop is at Rick DeLorenzo's, on Hamilton Ave.. I am not sure if I should have shameful feelings or prideful ones, cuz I can polish off that wonderful thin crispy pie all by myself. And heaven help any dinning companion if they reach for a slice. I've lived in Trenton, Yardley, Pa. and now SC, traveled extensively and there isn't one to top it. Clare Munn

.....simply put......THE BEST..... we are blessed in the Trenton area to have the best within our reach......i'd venture to say no other area in the US has the quality of Pies we have here in Trenton and vicinity.....PERIOD.
MMMMM, Tomato Pie for dinner tonight with Sausage, Mushroom and Garlic.....YUM
