The atmosphere in this cafeterialike setting is perfectly relaxed, the surroundings casual, the focus not on "atmosphere" but -- let's be frank about it -- hard-core gluttony. For slightly less than $20, a bustling collection of fine and vigorous young men and women in close-fitting slacks will heap your plate with steak, ribs, chicken, pork, lamb, sausage or bacon-wrapped turkey legs fresh off their spits. They will do this as many times as you can bear to clean it off. And if you haven't the appetite for this, sit at the long counter for the $6 to $8 specials, each of which comes with enough food to knock most eaters into a woozy torpor. The barbecue, lightly marinated, derives almost all of its remarkable flavor from the charcoal itself, which is how it is supposed to be. Enjoy it all with a side of plantains, red or black beans or french fries. Or just save room for the meat.

I'm from monmouth county, about an hour from Brasilia. I have not gone up there yet but many of my neighbors like the place. Closer to me, across the street from Monmouth Park, on Oceanport Ave in Long Branch is Rodeio Grill. It's the same Brazilian style restaurant as Brasilia and the service and quality are great. • Not worth at all

    Review rating : 1out of 5   SBCSOON - 06/11/2008

I won't give it the time of the day, lousy food, lousy service, the impression I had was like the service staff ( bar and dining room) were doing me a favor by serving me, tasteless food, unless you like your food extremely
salty, I will give my stars to any fast food chain over this Brasilia next time
I will get my money's worth and go to PORCAO NYC, a little pricey but is excellent

First of all, Brasilia is a real restaurant with a substantial menu and waiter service, not a cafeteria. What it has is a large buffet for people who order the rodizio (the waiters bring the meat to the table, and the diners choose their own accompaniments from the huge array at the buffet). The problem with the rodizio and the buffet is that on some days it is splendid, varied, and delicious (Sunday afternoons, for example), and on other days it's skimpy and not very good. You have to know when to do and, frankly, which meats to say "yes" to and which to take a pass on. Generally, the picadinho is the best steak; sometime the pork and some of the boneless chicken is dry. Because the rodizio is an endless stream of meat, you can ask for one small piece, and if you like it, you take more the next time it comes around. If you don't like it, you leave it after one bite and try something off the next skewer that arrives. Over the years, we have learned to choose what we like. To avoid paying the full $23, you can sit in the separate bar area and order a plate of meats for about $6 and a trip to the buffet for about $4. On Thursdays in the bar area, a pair of Brazilian musicians play and sing lively, upbeat Brazilian music. It' great!

  • not always

love to get to the Brazilia, 8 years now! usually good food but sometimes not much of a rodizio selection and the meat can be dry. The buffet bar is always a good bet. the fish is usually great! the service is attentive although sometimes a bit slow. a good Brazilian food experience.

  • From a Brazilian

    Review rating : 3out of 5   rrfamaral - 02/24/2007

The food is fair myself used to go there quite regular. I saw some reviews wich I suspect was from the Brasilia Restaurant in the Ferry St mistake confused with the Brasilia Grill located at Monroe. Anyway the ambience and staff are great, carefull brazilians are not great in preparation of salmons, rack of lamb or some fancy dishs... Go there for full filling meals BBQ , now carefull with the Monday's (they try to unload whatever they didn't sold at the weekend) Best day is Thursday... But if you want the real experience no doubt Plataforma (way more expansive as well)

  • Disappointing

    Review rating : 2out of 5   kjsec - 02/04/2007

Having read about this restaurant right here in the "City's Best" section of the AOL City Guide I was eager to give it a try. I just returned from having dinner there with my family and we were totally disappointed. It's a nice enough place and the staff members are friendly, but the food was not good. We had the house specialty which is the all-you-can eat BBQ and the meats were mostly dry & fairly tasteless. Totally disappointing, sorry to say. We won't return and can't recommend it.
