After spending about an hour trying to find a parking spot, you're sure to spend another hour trying to find a place to stand in this narrow New Brunswick hotspot. Young martini-sipping hipsters flock to the cozy corner bar known for a lengthy and exacting list of cocktails and martinis. Clydz even goes so far as to specify that a dry martini will consist of a 6:1 ratio of spirit to vermouth, an extra dry will be 8:1, and for an extra, extra dry martini, the bartender will merely glance at the vermouth bottle. Clever drink names like "Lenin-ade" (Ketel One Citroen, grenadine, lemon juice, sugar and fresh mint) and "Victoria's Secret" (coconut rum, light rum and chambord with cranberry and pineapple juice) compete with cosmos and martinis for your attention. In the winter, the fireplace keeps the crowd toasty and provides a hint of romance. There's a full late-night menu that's pretty expensive, but when you've been swilling all night, you'll be inured against the $6 pricetag on chips and salsa. -- Ally Azzarelli

  • Great Martinis!!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   Jclore - 07/25/2008

Clydz Martini menu is longer than their food menu! Their martinis are great, and they also give you the shaker with the rest of the martini! Parking may be a problem, but now that NJ has banned smoking in public places, smoking is no longer an issue.

  • Excellent Martinis

The martini menu is world class! It's a pretty impressive place however you need to get in there early (like after work) if you expect to sit at the bar! They do put some tables out in the warmer weather which is nice...the food is pretty good too.

  • Too smoky

I like going to Clydz but it is just way too smoky for me to truly enjoy myself. If they fixed that problem, Clydz would clearly be my bar of choice.

  • Love It!

I love this place. I've been going there for awhile now and its just amazing. Everytime I go there I try a new drink. And their seasoned fries are AMAZING!! I love just sitting behind the bar in the table section. It is just sooo relaxing!!!

  • OVERATED

    Review rating : 2out of 5   toosexy51 - 03/02/2005

Its a great place to bring a girl on the first date, but it sucks to chill there. The tiny bar area either gets filled with kids trying to act old and cool, or its packed with uncool old people..

The atmosphere perfect for chillin' and talking. Ask for Brian T., he suggests great martinis. Joe M. is a barback and then some. They add to the ambiance.

  • Martini Lovers Paradise

    Review rating : 5out of 5   tommyguns185 - 01/22/2005

Been going to Clydes for a while now and Love It!! The martini menu is never-ending...there is a martini for everybody on the menu...from the extry dirtys to the "foo-foo" fruity ones for those who cant handle their liquor that well....The food is also incredible if your willing to dig into your pocket a little deeper...its worth it!!

  • Fantastic

    Review rating : 4out of 5   bandpres00 - 08/06/2004

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Yes it was crowded.. but the atmosphere, was great. I don't want to be in a place with 2 people in it..what fun is that? The martinis are excellent and for $8.00 u get a glass full plus the shaker which gives u about 3 drinks altogether. Try the Calamari Salad. It is to die for! I will go back often!

  • Great Martinis!

You can't beat the selection of Martinis! Girl Scout Cookie is among one of the best. I only give it 3 stars because it is way too cramped. I have not tried the food. I've skimmed the menu, and it's not really my speed.
