The month of March marks a season of new beginnings. Spring-training baseball. Warmer weather. And for fast food connoisseurs in and around Kearny and North Arlington, March means the reopening of Stewart's, a too-cool-to-be-real old-fashioned root beer stand with car-hop service. This fun '50s throwback once played host to a location shoot for 'The Sopranos' featuring Tony himself, and its orange-and-black burger headquarters sits just across the road from the Belleville Bridge. There's plenty of good root beer to be had, and with good root beer comes great root beer floats. People also flock to Stewart's for terrific burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and fries. Enjoy yours on one of the outdoor patio tables, or -- if there's a chill in the air -- just drive right up and take advantage of car-side service. You can imagine yourself time-warping back to the days before everyone started counting calories.

Joeydd - 05/31/2008WHEN STEWARTS OPENS IT THE FIRST SIGN OF SPRING. HAVE ONLY GONE ONCE SO FAR THIS YEAR WAS OK. THE ROOT BEER SEEM A LITTLE WATERED DOWN WILL TRY AGAIN MAYBE A BAD NIGHT.

PR JEN1 - 05/15/2008I've been going to Stewarts for at least 25yrs. The service is always great and the food couldn't be better. The drive in feature is a plus for families with small children. Stewarts definitley deserves 5 stars.
Oh, and one more thing the owner is really hot!!!Good
cappinfro - 03/10/2007Stewarts is great. I especially enjoy eating the Root Beer. It really complements the burger, but when i Eat the Creme Soda, i like to have the Cheesesteak. Plus I like not having to get out of the car, as I am self consious of my immense obesity.

lsg1949 - 02/20/2007There hasn't been a bad meal at any Stewart stands that I've been too all my life. Orginally visited the Stewarts in Rahway, NJ but whenever in familiar territory and see a Stewart's stand, automatically drive in. Great service, good food and you don't even have to leave your car if you don't want too. Since moving, frequent Stewart's in Hamilton, NJ, great food, great service, best diet or regular root beer in frosted glasses, never had a bad meal. PS cheeseburgers are delicious.

"Stewarts is open!" Kids would pile into their cars and head out there for lunch.
This was back in the 60's!
Some things never change. LOL
Makes me want to take the drive back up North from the shore to get some of that great food!
