Best of Class
I would expect nothing less than a spectacular experience from a family like the Avoletta's who cut there teeth in the Hoboken restaurant scene when the town was just starting to grow up. Lua is a great mix of fantastic food, great service, creative drinks and an energetic crowd which combine to make Lua the town jewel. Keep up the good work!

NO RESTAURANT HAS A TO DIE FOR VIEW OF MANHATTAN LIKE LUA.... CAN NOT GET ANY MORE ROMANTIC THEN THAT... WETHER ITS YOUR FIRST DATE OR A MARRAIGE PROPOSAL... I HAVE SEEN MANY THERE...

Much continued success, Avoletta Family!Food Poisoning Exprience

This is a great place to eat, drink and be with friends. The food portion is huge and delicious  BUT, we recently got food poisoning here. We went to Lua on Sat., March 11, 2006 for our friends birthday party. We had reservations for about 32 people (according to our friend they can easily accommodate large parties) and about 3/4 of us got sick from food poisoning. We didn't realize the cause was Lua until we started emailing each other about how sick (fever, vomiting, diarrhea, body ache, burping, exhaustion) we all were and how much time most of us were spending in the bathroom or trying to nurse a fever. Recommend this place, but probably won't eat there for a while ... or at least until I start feeling better.

3. DECOR(VERY SOBE)
4. FOOD(COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF FOR UNDERSTANDING LATIN CUISINE)
5. STAFF(ECLECTIC, BUT CHIC AND SAVVY)
6. VALET(DEFINETLY A PLUS IN HOBEKEN)
7. LOCATION(VIEW OF N.Y.C. IS PITURESQUE ON A CLEAR NIGHT).
OVER ALL I NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE @ THIS RESTAURANT.
CHAOSITO,
SUPERIOR SERVICE/SUPERB STAFF
FROM THE MOMENT WE WERE GREETED BY THE EXQUISITE, PROFESSIONAL, HOSTESS WITH THE BEAUTIFUL SMILE(we asked what her name was and were told it was Nicole) WE KNEW AT THAT VERY MOMENT THAT LUA WOULD BE A PLACE WE WOULD RETURN TO OFTEN! THE FOOD AND SERVICE WERE EXCEPTIONAL. FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE LASTNG IMPRESSIONS, AND OUR HOSTESS NICOLE SET THE MOOD FOR A WONDERFUL NIGHT! WHEREVER YOU ARE NICOLE, MANY THANKS!!!
Disappointing
For all the hype, they should try getting decent bartenders- the first glass of wine that came to the table had some black bits floating in it, the second one it was replaced with had cork floating in it. On top of that, the entree that I ordered was so ridiculously spicy it was inedible, and the tuna which should have been rare, was severely overcooked. Maybe I just happened to catch them on a bad day, but I can tell you that I will never go back.
