By now, the whole world knows about the haunting, ruined pathos of the Asbury Park boardwalk depicted in the youthful songs of Bruce Springsteen. Frank's Deli is a few blocks in from the shore, and it remains more or less just as it was when it opened in 1960: a little pocket of pre-1960s America, that unbearably innocent place you see unspooling in washy old super-8 footage and hear apostrophized in "My Hometown." You could say this looks like a set from the "Wonder Years", but you'd be committing the common mistake of forgetting which came first. This is the real thing. Frank Maggio's son Joseph Maggio is running the grill these days, and there are some new kids behind the counter, but those are the biggest changes since the '60s. Even the prices seem to date from the Ford administration. You're likely to encounter a handful of gnarled, ruddy-skinned veterans in red satin jackets plowing through platefuls of steak and eggs in the middle of the afternoon, but the good, hearty grub comes through at all hours.

Subs: Best deal in town (any town)
The sub is so big, the waitress always asks, "Are you sure you want a whole sub...do you KNOW how big they are?"

Health inspectors should know

I went to Frank's this past summer on the advice that the food was good. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to find out. As i was siiting down at a table my boyfriend yanked me towards him and said Let's go now. I was so confused but followed him out the door, where he told me that he had spotted several roaches crawling on the wall. Totally gross!!!
what about the sweets?
Nobody mentioned the great Danish and sweets they bake on
premises. They are the biggest and most delicious around!Awsome
It's as good today as it was in the 60's Frank's was a daily stop on our way home from APHS in 67'.
still the same,that

Maybe I just thought so,But, it seems to me there was a time they were open all night?Whatever,I've eaten at Frank's since I owned a Brand New 1964 "409" 4-speed Chevy! I don't live close or go to Asbury as I did in the sixties, when I do I stop in for Something that is always good.Three mo.'s ago I did just that!Close your eye's and Joseph becomes his Dad and that's a good thing, Ray C.
