While it isn't much to look at, the ramshackle Sammy's Tap and Grill is a college student's haven: The spot's convenient to campus, offers burgers and wings, and has lots of TVs airing lots of sports. The large outdoor patio is great for chilling year round; part of the patio gets enclosed in the winter, making a cozy retreat from the sometimes-smoky bar area. There's always something on the tube to keep you entertained if the solo pool table is already occupied. Varied and generous drink specials ($2 pints) keep Sammy's packed on most evenings, but check the game schedule -- the Triangle-area University of Florida alumni club meets at Sammy's for all Gator sporting events, so you might feel like you're crashing the party.
