Our Take
Forget the fancy steakhouses of today where all meats are cooked on gas grills. At The Peddler, things are cooked the way they were when they opened back in 1969 over charcoal. All steak orders begin with you choosing the exact cut and thickness of your meat before it heads off to the charcoal grill. Skip the appetizers and load up instead on one of the best salads bars around (free with every meal).

NCMaggieValley - 06/11/2008I have had the opportunity to experience the Peddler Steak House since it first opened ! Not many people can actually say this. Although I can't remember my younger years of course, I can tell you from the part when I began remembering through now how much I enjoy visiting. The atmosphere at the Peddler is like no other. Very quite, serene. The food and quality is the best. I love how they bring the cart to you to allow you to choose the meat you want and then they cut that size for you. The salad bar is very good as well. I have never once been disappointed. I recently moved away from the Raleigh/Durham area. (5 years ago) Now I have to make a point once a month to drive back home just to go to have my steak at the Peddler. I just can't live without it !! I tell everyone here in Fayetteville where I now reside to drive up to Raleigh if they want a decent non-chain resturant steak ! Oh and yes I have dined many of times at the Angus Barn, they are good but nahhhh I will take the Peddler ANY DAY over that place !!
Just go to Taverna Agora instead!
FieldTrialLabs28 - 06/10/2008I ate at this place about a year ago and I won't go back! The steaks are all USDA Choice no Prime. I did not get the steak that was cut for me, and it was not cooked rare like I asked for. Another disapointing thing was the appetizer sampler, it was nothing more than some frozen stuff dropped into a fryer! My advice, don't even go to the back of the shopping center to the Peddler, if you want a damn good meal just go to Taverna Agora instead!

Bad experience
ftpage - 04/24/2007Ate there on Friday night. Ordered NY strip, rare. Served med.well, sent back, no apology. Then served me a rib eye, charged me for NY strip. Kept knife, had to share with wife. Eaten there for years, but never again! Remember when it opened. Waitress not trained. Horrible experience. NOt recommended! Long time Raleigh resident.

mdill1953 - 02/20/2007A great hidden steak house in a quite location. Excellant food and service. Great salad bar with everything on it. Just need to make the salad bar more spread out.
