Think outside the pub-grub box at Sir Ed's. Seven nights a week, the dark wood-lined place serves night owls a full menu until the law turns off the lights -- and what an eclectic menu. Sure, they have fish and chips, darts and bar snacks to go with those 20-ounce British pints of Guinness and ales. But Sir Ed's also serves up the unexpected. How about lobster Wellington, ostrich meatloaf, wild game chili and pork loin with maple syrup? Check out cool Things to Share, like goat cheese fritters or maybe cheddar cheese grits. Adding to the diverse menu, Monday is sushi night. Cinco de Mayo gets a rousing celebration when the sun-drenched garden patio is open. The bargain-priced Parliament Lunch features varied treats: burgers, blackened scallops and New Zealand leg of lamb. Finish up with Guinness chocolate pudding.

Whenever I, go there I've never been disappointed with the food, or service. The atmosphere is relax, and friendly. a wonderful place to go with family, and friends to have an enjoyable evening.

  • Outstanding! I love it!

Stepping inside this place feels like stepping into an actual British pub. Simple decor, good mix of dark and light. The food is indeed amazing. I'm not a very adventurous person when it comes to food, but I can definitely vouch for their bacon cheeseburger and grilled chicken sandwich, even the fries they come with are delicious! Anyone complaining about rude bartenders must have been *exceptionally* obnoxious asses, and I've spent a few years drinking there with some pretty obnoxious asses who couldn't raise the bartenders' ire even if they tried, and believe me, some have. Jeff, Jefferson, and Matty are the sweetest, nicest bartenders I've ever seen. They know exactly what I want when I go there. I can't name any other place I'd rather go, this is my absolute favourite.

  • this place is awesome

Sir Ed's is a great bar. Disregard all old reviews. Bartenders (especially Jeff, Jefferson and Matty) are top-notch and service is excellent. Respect the menu - sushi on Mondays and menu changes often. Be sure to ask about daily specials. Don't expect your typical bar food. If you know Charlotte, then you know Sir Ed's is down-right perfect. Make sure you enjoy a delicious Bass on the patio.

Sir Ed should have it all: He's got a great, pub-y atmoshpere, a wonderful location and some pretty amazing cheeseburgers. However Sir Ed is also saddled with, hands down, the rudest bartender in Charlotte (and his wait staff aint too nice either). And, this was a slow night!

  • LACKING

This pub pretty much promotes driunk driving. I have seen it happen many times (second handedly) and heard of so. This is HORRIBLE. If you think you can check on your friend or spouse via phone, think again. The owner will give no info on their safety or anything and will lie for them. The FOOD is pretty damn good there--the chefs just need to open a better place to serve it at :)
Crammed on weekends and ANY holiday, very smokey, and nasty skanks. Not my cup of tea,

Unfriendly, arrogant bartenders...food is pretty good.

  • The best $8.00 lunch around!

We happened upon this place trying to get somewhere else...Saw folks eating outside, so we gave it a whirl.
The food is AMAZING. It's "way better than it should be" for a bar. (I'm not a bar person, don't drink). I'd rather eat outside when we go, but I'd eat the food from there, standing up in a closet - did I mention the food was good?
