Attracting fans with its 40-seat digs in Johnston Road Plaza, Palusos offers all kinds of mafia-themed pizzas including the Soprano Connection (mozzarella, spinach, chicken, tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes and feta) and Godfather Supreme (mozzarella, pepperoni, ground beef, Italian sausage, smoked ham, bacon, green peppers, onions, mushrooms and olives). You can design your own pie or enjoy pizza by the slice. Torpedoes (Upstate New York lingo for subs) include a hot meatball sandwich using a family recipe. The authentic cheese steak made with fresh sliced sirloin will transport you to the streets of South Philly. Other selections include New York-style gyros (choose chicken, sirloin or lamb), wings, salads and cheese sticks. Thinking of eating elsewhere? Fuhgettaboudit.

The only thing I can say for this place is that its a joke. Any self respecting Italian would not do this. What a wanna be. The pizza is a joke as well. It's under new ownership now but I can see already that it's not going to make it. Listen to me, If you want true Brooklyn Stlye pizza just go to Tony's Pizza in Ballantyne it's the best I have ever tasted.

Look, I do not know who this joint thinks they are fooling. 1st- ask the local cops- they never eat at this dive. 2nd- look at the area. It is a dump no matter how they try to dress it up- it is still a dump. 3rd- the "locals" are a little scary- not where I want to bring my family. 4th- why do you think the sign over the store just says "PIZZA?" How many times has the ownership changed? Why do you think they can not stay in business? People who eat RAGU/PREGO brand gravy will like this dive- anyone else?

  • No longer Palusos

They've changed it into a different place. FODD SUCKS NOW!
As for Luigi's. That place is OK at best and the owner is a racist and sexist prick

  • More Gimmicy than Real Italian

    Review rating : 2out of 5   PMckay1717 - 06/11/2008

Food just average, lot of choices for so,so fare. If u want realy perfect NYC/NJ Italian pizza, subs & cheese steaks, go to Lugi's in Steelcreek, off Rt. 49/Tryon, in the SuperWalmart mall, way in the back, next to a Chinese Buffet. Luigi's is excellent, real Brooklyn style pizza, thin crust, great sauce & traditional toppings. Plus, they make great traditional salads as well. Luigi's will also open a new place in a new plaza behind the Harris Teeter (HT is at corner of Rt 49/160.) The new Luigi's will be right past the Teeter, past the lite for Rivercrest Plaza.

I saw they were voted #1 and was skeptical but decided to try it... and I was glad I did! Their pizza is on the thicker side and their sauce is spicy and delicious. This is now my favorite non-NY style pizza place!

  • best pizza I've found in town

    Review rating : 4out of 5   depowersdoc - 08/16/2007

Since I moved here in November 2006 I've been looking for pizza that can rival NY, or even Cleveland, where there are great pizzerias, where I come from. At last, I've found the Holy Grail of northeast style pizza. Our delivery order arrived promptly, hot, tasty, and reminiscent of the best I've had elsewhere. I can't wait to try some of the other menu items.

For me, I would like a bit more sauce and a bit less cheese, but that is easy to fix on the next order. Paluso's is absolutely tops.
