There's a real Danny (he owns Hotel Charlotte next door), and a real Eddie (he's the friendly guy who clearly knows all the regulars), which is probably why this simple, casual Sharon Amity/Cotswold eatery has a friendly, neighborhood feel. Part pub, homey breakfast joint, kid-friendly local hangout and low country restaurant, this eatery is many things to many Charlotteans. Inexpensive and with a smallish but crowd-pleasing menu (hot dogs, fat subs, fried oysters, po' boys, onion rings, gumbo, pasta), Eddie's Place offers big breakfasts in the morning and live music when the sun goes down. A comfortable spot where reservations are neither needed nor accepted, Eddie's Place makes up for in neighborhood popularity what it lacks in decor. A city favorite for brunch and breakfast, the joint also serves a mean cup of she-crab soup, a menu item some call the best soup in all of Charlotte.

Went to the new Eddies Place off Johnston Rd. Food was good but over priced I would rather them cut back on portions a little and lower price have a decent breakfast special for $4.99 you can get this at Sunrise or Jonathan's 2 eggs bacon/sausage grits toast. We desperately need places like those two on this side of town and put these high priced places out of business.

  • Just average

I'm new to the area and took some out of town guests to breakfast on a Sunday morning. I selected this place because of it's great reviews for 'Best Brea
kfast'. When we got there we were told there was a wait, which was to be expected; however, there was no place to 'wait'. The tables and chairs outside were occupied and inside there is no place for people on the wait list to stand. Once we were seated we looked over the limited breakfast selection and ordered. When our food was served and we all started eating I was quite disappointed - as I could have made the same quality breakfast at home. Needless to say I was extremely embarassed that I had 'talked' up this restaurant to my friends and I know they are thinking - is this really the best breakfast Charlotte has to offer?
