Tired of the Uptown leather-pants-and-martinis scene? Then slip on jeans and a T-shirt and enjoy the laid-back, brick-interior Cajun vibe of Dixie's, one of the Queen City's favorite after-work watering holes. In general, the Dixie's crowd tends to be more casual, more mature and more sober than the typical Uptown scene. Forget about fancy liqueurs -- belly up to one of the two bars and suck down a few $1.50 Miller pints, $1 Rolling Rocks or $2.50 Coronas at various nightly specials. Hungry? Go for above-average Cajun fare such as salt 'n' pepper catfish tenders, shrimp po'boys, jambalaya, crawfish ettouffee or the New Orleans-style 'mighty fine' gumbo.
Sports fans, take note: Steelers games are always on the tube here during football season. Dixie's also offers an outside patio and some of the best seasonal entertainment in town, including the annual Halloween Grave Digger's Ball, a bash which in 2003 attracted Dave Attell of the Comedy Channel's 'Insomniac.'

Food
Do not go there to eat. The food is awful yo must have to already be intoxicated to enjoy their food and the service sucked the waitress was annoying and they did not want to make more tea I know its a bar but it was like 6 so come on, how lazy!

Definitely not my favorite place. I prefer a more intimate atmosphere. Too much noise and too many people.

I shouldn't tell this,b/c it might ruin our play, but everytime my female friend and I go to Dixies, we get hit on all night..the ratio is usually about 8 guys for every girl..good place to guy watch..sit at the bar..
laid back..wayyyy back!
Not too long ago I recommended that some friends and I stop by "The Tavern" since I stay on the same side of town and consider myself a bar-connosieur. Being an African-american and taking the same there, I explained that it would be ok and we would have a great time. Well we got there and I was sadly mistaken. We were stared at like we just stepped out of a 3rd world country, we sat and nobody attended our table. I assured that all of the waitresses were busy but that wouldnt fly considering i could hear crickets. I quickly swallowed my pride and suggested we leave. I couldnt help but feeling that when we left the bell rang and there were balloons and waitresses doing cartwheels down the aisles. Oh well..we were loaded and were looking to get loaded. They missed out on good customers and loyal drinkers. Next time..be more attentive..we go to bars too...And we don't own GUNS...REALLY!!!
average at best
They try to hook you with cheap drinks and live music. Other than that there is nothing there.
.
Great place for college kids to go and unwind on the weekends. Good bands such as Uphonik, and other good local bands.

"I have gone to Dixie's to the Uncle Sam Jam and other events and had a great time. A lot better than some of the other places in Charlotte that I won't mention.

I came to "Fat Tuesday'
party on March 04,2003 and I thought the bands were great especially Two Step, the dmcb. Had a great time. Hope to return soon.
