Known for its thriving young and beautiful nightly bar scene, Cosmos Cafe sits in the middle of the action of the uptown entertainment district. Although long lines of lovelies wait to make the scene on the weekend after midnight, Cosmos is more than just the coolest spot to sip martinis and meet friends.

Serving lunch and dinner, Cosmos was one of the first restaurants in Charlotte to introduce tapas, small plates of food that reflect cuisine ranging from Greek and Spanish to Japanese and American. Cosmos invites diners to "taste the world" and it delivers with tapas dishes from chicken satay and lobster dim sum to spanokopita and tiropita. Pizzas are baked in a wood fired brick oven and delivered with cheeses bubbling. Dinner features change weekly and can run the gamut from bison filet mignon to baby back ribs. Cosmos also hosts the city's annual James Beard Dinner where Charlotte's finest chefs come together to create a one-of-a-kind meal for a great cause.

  • I want to sleep with the place

Ok so I'm from out of town and stopped by this modern-looking restaurant by my hotel. It was Cosmos Cafe.
As soon as I walked in the door, I was blown away by the bold mix of stone, wood, and copper decor, and the wide variety of artwork hanging on the walls and from the ceilings.
The hostess greeted me with a smile as soon as I walked in the front door, and seated me promptly. That night I was dining alone.
My waiter was cleanly groomed, friendly, and HOT (as are almost all of Cosmos' patrons). He recommended a glass of wine, salad, and an entree, all of which I ordered.
Everything was perfect! As a business traveller, I experience the best and the worst of what restaurants have to offer. I am pleased to say that Cosmos is one of my favorite experiences to date.
I highly recommend the Strawberry Field Salad (mesclun greens, balsamic vin., strawberries, spiced pecans, bleu cheese, and bacon), the Dim Sum lobster dumplings, and the Tuna Tataki drizzled with a fresh balsamic-soy reduction and Japanese Enoki mushrooms.
Thanks to Cosmos for a spectacular dinner!

The food is inconsistant as is the service. I got ripped off by a waitress on the tip on my cradit card and called the manager about it . He never called me back.

  • Stylish little place...

It might be a bit small, but it's an interesting crowd, cool atmosphere, and the best music I've heard so far in Charlotte.

Not expensive, friendly staff and delish food. Great atmosphere. Half-price martinis on Wednesdays -- with a huge list, you could go every week for months and try a different one.

I think is Cosmos is wonderful. Beautiful people, cool music, great food. On Wednesday's night, it's the ONLY place HAPPENING in the Uptown.

Cosmos is highly over-rated. Rude staff and very expensive. Rira is the best of the two.

This is one of the best places for late night... the bartenders are great! Everyone is entertaining! ...and the "El Nino" shot is to die for!!

I really think this place is highly over-rated in the cuisine department...because many people don't understand the concept of mezzas and tapas eating. You are suppose to order a small portion of everything. Unfortunatly, what you order usually is not too good! Go for the great sushi, decent pizza and cool atmosphere-just don't expect the impossible!
