In front of Jillian's and next to the Gin Mill, find a Charlotte stalwart of live the music scene: good ol' Amos' SouthEnd. While Amos' is a favorite among local singles, it isn't a Crush-style meat market, but rather a casual nightspot that happens to attract plenty of singles. The live music here ranges from rock monsters like Molly Hatchet and Drivin 'n Cryin, to verge-of-the-big-time acts like Angie Aparo and Mary Prankster, to local faves like retro-80s popsters the Breakfast Club and the glammed-out Bel Air Saints. There's music nearly every night of the week, with a reggae DJ on Wednesdays and the big acts hitting once or twice a month. Smoky and casual, Amos' offers a both large dance floor and a cozy balcony littered with tables, sofas and the occasional inebriated patron. The crowd is typical Queen City nightlife: singles and college students out for a rockin' good time.

Fair, not the best.
Only the young and restless attend. Bad vibes here, not the best for a good time, which is very hard to find in Charlotte.

I am a 33 year old male that has recently been diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, which is a rare type of arthritis that attacks the neck, shipe and hip area, it also causes inflamation and redness of the eyes. I was called out of the entrance line by one of the event staff, harrassed, asked why my eyes were red, after explanning I was told to go to the back of the line and wait again, after doing so 3 times I was denied entrance but ridicouled each time I reached the point of entry. I never got to enter the show and i was refused an opportunity to speak to the management
.
Good music venue. Honest management. Great information on the privacy issue. Nice staff.

Was at Amos Southend on Saturday the 8th of August. the place was crowded and the sound system isn't the best. But they get all the best bands so what does it matter. Ok for the younger crowd though.
Great Dane Entertainment has issues...
I went to their Tuesday event in Charlotte and left my card for the promoter, Dana of Great Dane Entertainment. She walks up to me, looks at me as if to say, "F**K you", then turns around and walks away. The attitude was offensive, but I didn't take it personal.
The event looked okay, but I didn't go in. You know how I am about egotistical, self absorbed promoters. You can keep your $20. I'm out.Amos Southend is just south of awesome
I saw King's X play there in December. Amos' Southend is cozy, but not too small. It's a good medium sized venue, that allows the band to be intimate (not THAT intimate) with the crowd. It's the kind of place that if the band is good, it will be one of the best concerts you'll ever see. The bars upstairs and downstairs are predictably manned by attractive girls, and they are good barkeeps. The only reason I don't give Amos 5 stars instead of 4 is that the beer selection is lacking in anything unique, other than Red Stripe. The rest is predictable, leaning heavily toward the "ZIMA" crowd. If Amos ever expends its selection to include perhaps a Dunkel Heffe Weiss and some unique smaller batch brands, it's tops hands down. Its the kind of place that can afford to that, I think, becuase it seems to be the kind of place that people who appreciate a really good venue will like, and we tend to be a bit choosier lot. Better beer would make it a better bar, but I will always look forward to hearing a band at Amos'.
