Ready for a night out of people watching, alcohol-fueled socialization and gourmet food? Find all three in the funky old converted Dilworth house known as 300 East. The contempo neon sign is the first clue that this venue is more boho than sports bar, but the diverse clientele inside lets you know this is everybody's hangout. The location is pure Dilworth, so you'll find the occasional pair of seniors lunching over lamb chops. But the casually innovative atmosphere makes sure you're just as likely to encounter a tableful of thirtysomethings downing martinis on the patio. The menu is as eclectic as the clientele: chef Christine Schmidt (yes, that's right, the place has a real chef) whips up not tired bar fare but gourmet entrees like mustard-basted brisket and apple-smoked chicken. The martinis here are a city favorite, as is the 'Matilda Wong,' a knockout house specialty so insidiously strong waitstaff won't serve you more than two. If the two knock you for a loop, though, return the next morning for 300 East's scrumptious brunch.

Halibut?

Nice atmosphere and very, very nice wait staff. The one and only time I ate here, I ordered the fish special...halibut. There was so much cartilaginous (sp?) material in this fish, I had a hard time cutting it with a knife. I'm no fish expert, but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't have to cut fish with a knife...the chef should have known better than to serve this piece. Sadly, probably the last time I'll eat here simply because of this.

Cozy, warm, inviting, friendly wait staff, diversity of people, great food - and, the Matilda Wong is actually a small pitcher, one was my limit.
Great Place
We have eaten there many times and the food is great. Specials are exciting with a beautiful presentation. The wait staff is great. Never had a bad experience.
