Looking for a unique restaurant that's entertaining for both children and adults? Check out Fitz's Restaurant and Bottling Company in the Loop along the St. Louis Walk of Fame. Savor tasty menu choices like the celebrated burgers (including the River City, Black & Blue and Texas Chili), pizzas, pastas and salads while you watch the root beer assembly line from the main dining room; they produce about 2.5 million bottles of sugarcane-filled soda a year. Plus, kids get their meal served in a take-home car, and nobody should leave without a Fitz's root beer float for dessert (they make more than 1,200 every week). Upstairs is a heavenly haven for adults, with a full-service bar that serves beer for big people, billiards, darts and a big screen. Inquire about the field trips, as kids can learn the history of root beer and the Delmar Loop.

Could be better

I want to like this place, I really do, cause Fitz's is such a St. Louis item. However, there are just so many problems that I can't help it. I asked for a frosted mug and got a warm pint glass, then when I got a mug, it was warmer than the pint glass, plus it was flat. The ice cream doesn't float in the rootbeer float. They just pile it upon the mug, waiting for it to plummet down and splash everywhere. The portions are solid, but at nearly $8 for a burger and fries, it's about $2 more than it should be, 8oz or not. Their menu wants to be eccentric because it's in the loop, but it would be so much better if it just stuck to being a burger joint. You don't see Blueberry Hill marching out bizzare combos to entice people. To top it off, the bottling plant wasn't working when I went. If you go for the plant, make sure you're there during the weekdays. The service was acceptable, and the place was clean, but it'll be a while before I go back.

Great family place. Service, food and decor is excellent. burgers and desserts are the best!
Best Burger in town!
Best burgers in town. My kids love going. Servers are friendly and fun. Save room for desert. The Neopolitan is the best next to a rootbeer float!
Return Vist

Had not been to Fitz's in a couple of years, but what a great experience we had for the entire family. The kids loved the games and watching the bottling line. The food, service and atmosphere seemed much better than just a few years back. Fitz's is definitely on the return visit list.
Do your homework
This "atmosphere" would be wonderful, however make sure you check the times.....this place doesn't bottle on the weekends. If you dont mind paying $4.50 for an average mug rootbeer float and twice as much for the usual burger, this place is for yoU!
Yeah for Fitz's!
Not only does this place have excellent servers, a fun and exciting atmosphere, but the food is good too!
CJSSL's Review

On Friday, 6/23, my parents took my family of 5 to this restaurant. Obviously the root beer and floats were a hit, but we all agreed whether it was the chicken sandwiches or the burgers, they were the very best we had ever had! The portions were also enormous. This comes from a family who loves to eat and expects only the best. We can not wait to return!
Xmystika's Review
everyone says the food is okay- but i think it's great personally. I look forward to spending another day in U-City and going!
Bernie's Review
The food was better than average, but the thig that makes this place so fun is the atmosphere. The bottling area is viewable and you can spend many an hour watching them make bottles. The staff, though slow is nice and tries to get you the food as soon as possible.
