Blue Plate Special: Americana diner fare, breakfast favorites, slingers and other comfort food served 24 hours daily.

The Dish: Eat-Rite's St. Louis locations ensure that comfort-food seekers can find solace no matter the time of day or night, and it's especially popular with late-night carousers after cocktails. Sometimes nothing hits the spot like a cheap burger, a barbecue pork sandwich or a notorious slinger. Eat-Rite layers its version of the slinger with potatoes, meat and eggs. All of that is covered with chunky chili and comes with a side of ham, sausage, bacon, hamburger or T-bone steak. The hash browns are homemade, fresh and made to order.

The Atmosphere: Think of every American diner you've ever seen -- a place where you can get something called a slinger -- and you can envision an Eat-Rite. The griddle sizzles, the smell of grease permeates the air, the menus are stained, and the jukebox features country stars. Their motto ''Eat-Rite or don't eat at all.'' -- Hillary Wicai

*Price Per Person includes entree, drink & dessert

I grew up in St. Louis, it seemed like you could not go any place in the city without running into an Eat Rite diner. I live in Jefferson County now, and there are three Eat Rites within twenty minutes of me. One on South Lindberg, and two on Hi-way 30. Murphy flats and Hiway thirty at PP highway. If you are looking for elegance, join a country club. If you are looking for good food, you will find it at Eat Rite.

Jukebox out of the sixties, the classic greasy spoon, manned by the cook and a waitress, good conversation, eclectic clientele (allwalks) a must stop after a Cardinal's night game

Eat-Rite is a great place to start the day. It's a diner, so forget the cloth napkins and slick advertising. Breakfast is everything it ought to be--greasy, hot and delicious! What can I say, I love eggs, bacon, and white toast. This is the place for me for a good (cheap) breakfast. Did I mention it's cheap?
