While most St. Louis drinkers are extremely loyal to the brewery down at 12th and Lynch Streets, others feel the need to be more adventurous. With more than 130 beers to choose from, visitors to Growlers can sample suds from all around the world. Plus, if you try everything in the Beer Bible, you are rewarded with prizes and a place in the distinguished Hall of Foam. Both suburban locations feature a faux-pub vibe, with dark wood paneling, dim lights, lots of smoke, loud chatter and an outdoor biergarten. Perusing the food menu can be just as challenging as choosing a beer: Unusual apps include pot stickers and Scotch eggs, specialty entrees include Shepard's pie, meatloaf and smoked brisket, and delicious desserts include banana wontons and tuxedo triple cousse cake. Keep an eye out for special occasions like the annual Oktoberfest, ask about the beer of the month and bring the kids in on Sunday to eat for free from the children's menu.

One of top three in our area in food and service
LLPurcell1357 - 07/25/2008Moving back to St. Louis area 10 years ago.. the search was on for good food as I remembered. Growlers's is one of three within a 5 mile radius of my home in Kirkwood which always has great service, and consistently flawless quality in what they serve. The also respect the customer if there is a problem, i'ts immediately recified. After years in food service myself.. I'm a hard one to please..my one rule while in the business was, all customers are to be treated like guests in my home and Growlers follows that responsibility down the line in my book. Take it from one who is now retired and spends lots of time not cooking... WAY TO GO Growler's!

liljj2b - 04/19/2005Outrageous prices. Bought a bucket of beer (3 michelob ligt and 3 michelob ultra) to the tune of $23.85. No response from management except "that's the way it is" Will NEVER go back
