We Love this Place!

My husband and I eat here on a weekly basis. I must say that Ponaks has a strong server staff. That is why we come into the place. We love Jesse when we eat there during lunch! We are also fans of Shelly and Joy! They are very friendly and attentive servers that pay attention and talk to their tables. The margaritas are the STRONGEST and will get you wasted if you don't pace yourself. We always thank the kitchen ladies when we leave. They work their butts off in that hot kitchen.

Jose one of the managers is so friendly to us and we love to come on Wednesday nights just to see him. He always thanks us and shakes our hands when we leave. Not a fan of the bald headed guy...he seems burned out on that place and should look for another job. I am surprised he has not been fired being he is so rude to customers, but oh well we avoid him when we go there.

Adam, Tina, and Nigel are amazing bartenders that kick butt and treat us well with the respect and customer service that one deserves when dining at a place. We have even had a few conversations with Tommy who is the man in charge on the weekends at the bar and appreciates his customers.

Thank you Ponaks for making us feel welcomed and comfortable at an establishment where we can enjoy ourselves and have a good time. You have a wonderful staff of employees that do not take their jobs for granted and appreciate working there.

IT IS AN "ALMOST" EVERY WEEKEND THING! PONAK'S IS A CLEAN, FRIENDLY PLACE. THE TACO SENORA'S & SOUPY BEANS ARE WONDERFUL. IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE SITTING IN THE BAR AREA, LOOK OVER AT THE KITCHEN. THE FOOD IS PREPARED IN A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT BY WOMEN WHO TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR FOOD PREPARATION. I WOULD RATE PONAK'S AS THE #1 MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN KANSAS CITY. OH, BY THE WAY...THE MARGARITA'S ARE UNBELIEVABLE! I WAS TOLD THAT PONAK'S WAS THE 2ND LARGEST DISTRIBUTER OF JOSE CUERVO TEQUILA! ONCE YOU TRY THE MARGARITA'S YOU'LL KNOW WHY (NO SINGLE SHOTS HERE)!

Great Server

There is a great server there named Jesse. Ask for his area which is non-smoking most of the times. He works in the afternoons on the weekday but is usually very busy. The food is always hot and the way you like it.

I've eaten here a half dozen times over the years. I don't understand why people eat here with so many great Mexican restaurants in the city. The salsa has been described as spicy Ketchup, which is accurate. The margarita's are potent - a clear green color. I like mine made with lime juice and theirs are a different type (but strong). I think Panzon's has the best margarita's in town - also very strong, but a more traditional style margarita (a half pitcher for two is perfect). Any food I've ever eaten there tastes like something bland I could've made at home. Others have recommended their pork tacos, which are ok.

The drinks are better than the food for sure. I did eat there with Joe Montana the other day, if he can eat it I guess it made me like it just a little bit more.

The bartendar seemed pretty busy and the waitress could use a little polish (they should change there dirty bibs every one in a while) Other than that, it was good.

Thank goodness they serve liquor because it helped the slop on the plate go down much smoother. Never again.

ive beeing going to ponaks since i can remember..its my favorite mexican resturant ever.it may not look the best..but who cares? everything abuot that place is great.funny about that akazhome said..because there are 2 hosts and they have never been rude once.the margaritas are very potent.
