If you are looking for a bar with class where you can actually have a conversation, Oak is for you. The Oak Lounge is one of the best secrets of the city -- a bar with a huge martini list, made-to-order sushi, stylish decor and a sparse, sophisticated crowd. There are exceptions of course. It bursts with activity during busy Plaza seasons, such as the Christmas lighting and Art Fair. It also can brim with star gazers when word gets out that famous athletes or musicians are in town. But a normal day provides you with a relaxing chair, soft lighting, a few business travelers and "a large selection of specialty drinks, ports, cognacs, sherries and beer including domestics, imports and microbrews." Live jazz fills the air Friday nights, which beefs up the local crowd. Be sure to come dressed for success. Overly casual attire will water down your service in this well-appointed lounge.

It's not the Fairmont anymore

Beware it has been the InterContinental for about a year now and I see no changes or any coming changes. Lobby is worn and a quality of food is going down. Servers are slow and if you see Management they are talking to staff sitting and talking to friends and not ensuring service is what it should be a Âluxury hotel.
