There must be something in the salsa, but ask any Kansas Citian, and they'll tell you Manny's is addictive. The owner, Manny Lopez, uses the time-honored recipes and experiences of his own family to create an outstanding offering of traditional Mexican cuisine. South-of-the-border specialties, including chile rellenos and el gordito, bring in crowds from all over the barrio to experience Mexican's best bet in KC. From police officers to plumbers to corporate executives, the masses at this establishment all have one thing in common -- they are obsessed with the food and don't mind waiting among the throngs of people to sample the taste they've learned to crave. But waiting in those long lines is certainly easier with one of Manny's potent and popular Margarita's.

If you like to eat at Manny's, you need to get out more.
Try Mama Tios on 87th and Paseo. Delicious, laid back, all you can eat chips and salsa. Guarantee you cannot eat a huge burrito called "Sancho Supreme" . Mmmmmm!
Slushy Margarita's by the pitcher! And best of all the place is cheaper than any where else around!!

    Guaranteed!!

  • What barrio?

The only "barrio" Manny's draws from is probably Overland Park. Manny's caters (successfully) to people who like to think they are eating "authentic" being on the Blvd. but don't want their food "too Mexican". For something you might find in Mexico, there are a dozen better restaurants in the neighborhood (start at Ortega's which is more of a grocery with a diner). If you want suburban midwestern-style "Mexican" cuisine, then Manny's is your destination.

after all the hype... this place was suppose to be the "Bomb"... my group of 4 were very dissappointed with service, flavors and we all felt that Manny's isn't all that... the meats in our dishes were not anything special... someone forgot to put the mexican spices in while cooking.. meats were very bland to say the least...

My cousin & Friends wanted to go, I'd never heard of it before. We waited atleast 20 minutes for a table & it wasn't because they were busy. And the food wasn't that good. I'll never waste my money & gas going there again! Taco Johns & Taco Via is ALOT Better!!

  • Not what I expected

    Review rating : 2out of 5   minimam - 05/18/2004

My friends kept telling me about this wonderful place to eat at called Manny's, boy was I disappointed when I finally tried it. It took 20 minutes for a server to come to the table, another 15 min to get our drinks, and the food was not edible. I won't recommend it to anyone.
