Kansas Citians have loved Jazz on 39th for years, it's the first of a few around the area. The very first Jazz opened in Lubbock, Texas, down where they know their Cajun food. The popular restaurant has since grown to a chain of six stores located in Texas, Kansas and Missouri. Its secret? A spiced-up menu and a saucy, fun atmosphere. Jazz features plenty of music throughout the day, but the restaurant is an especially good time in the evening, when the music tends to be live blues, jazz or Dixieland. Munch on a shrimp po'boy sandwich, or slurp some crawfish etouffee while listening to the band. Don't worry if blackened catfish is too spicy for you -- the kitchen is happy to spice things down. The menu also offers gentler pasta dishes. Consider dropping in for happy hour, when appetizers (including fried pickles) are under $3 each.
