Located just north of KC in Riverside, the Corner Cafe has stood as a roadhouse-style tribute to comfort food since 1983. While a lot of home-cookin' places could just as aptly be called greasy spoons, the Corner achieves a much higher standard. Some of the most comorting food at the Corner Caf is found on the breakfast menu, where stacked pancakes, biscuits and gravy, oozing omelettes and fresh fruit offer the fuel necessary to begin your day. From its soups and salads to its entrees and desserts, there's a distinctly fresh quality to the food. The crisp salads are topped by flavorful homemade croutons. The chicken noodle soup boasts broad homemade noodles and thick chunks of chicken. Its signature dishes, like fried chicken, turkey with dressing and catfish filet, are moist and tender. Side dishes include mashed potatoes fit to impress Grandma. The macaroni and cheese is very popular, and the desserts? Think homemade cobbler ripe with peach and blackberry, with a firm but delicate crust. The service has a friendly, small-town feel. Expect to be called ''hon.''

    Corner cafe has changed over the years. The food food has gone down slightly in quality, but the biggest change has to do with staffing. The waitresses act like you are bothering them by being there. They treat you like they hate their job and wish they were somewhere else. I used to bring my family on a regular basis, but now only hit them ocasionally to see if there are any improvements.

    We have been eating here since 1983. This is food like Mom thought she could cook. Few frills, just really great food and plenty of it. Service is 4 1/2 stars. Prices are reasonable. Then there are those pies. Creations out of Heaven.
    Outside there is plenty of parking. This place is well worth driving to, even with$4.00 gas prices..
    Come on and let's meet for lunch.

    My Family and I think the Corner Cafe in Riverside is one of the best restaurants for comfort food in Kansas City. The Banana Cream Pie is YUMM_O!!!!!!!
