Kansas City's first cabaret is an elegant but unpretentious affair. Super-high ceilings, covered by corrugated metal and lined with exposed silvery ducts, create a modern, industrial feel. The smooth concrete walls and floors add to the luxury-warehouse effect. Colorful modern artwork --done by local artists -- fits perfectly with the neighborhood's reputation as Kansas City's premier gallery district. And the food menu, which features blini, pate and salmon croquettes, suggests that some attempt at artistry is going on in the kitchen, as well.

But it's the piano that takes center stage at Bar Natasha -- literally. Resting regally on a circular riser in the middle of the bar, the sleek baby grand is spotlighted like an opera diva and adorned by more flowers than a mob boss's coffin. It's not just for show. Nightly entertainment often unfolds into full-fledged sing-a-longs, fueled on by bar tenders and wait staff made up mainly of actors, singers and other performers. The crowd, gay and straight, is an equally prominent part of each number. So don't be shy, sing up.

  • Just to be fair...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion good or bad. I'm a 23 f who personally found this place very boring. The last long lengthy reviews sounds like someone who really never had a good time at a typical gay techno dance club but found solace in a dark cave with an Ellen wannabe running around playing a small hand held accordion. It has nothing to do with class and everything to do with what you expect when going out to have a good time. Also find it interesting that Me and My College Pals review seems very similar to the Wizard -coincidence???

  • Fun Place!

My brother and his partner are coming to K.C. this weekend, so I thought I'd check a few things out on Digital City today for the weekend. I thought I'd check out whats going on at Bar Natasha and got the web site address from this location. I saw that there was this area, for ratings and reviews and thought I'd add my 2 cents. I agree with several of the posters here, Bar Natasha is a great place to enjoy an evening with friends/family. Our friends are in the late 20's early 30's age group. I don't recall seeing anyone yawn. I do recall that every time we've visited the bar, we've had a really fun time. Its a place where you can still carry on a conversation, drink something worth drinking, while being entertained. Our parents have come with us several times and really loved the place. I don't think it's a matter of age really, but more of preference. Keep up the good work!! We'll see you this weekend!

  • Not much fun

    Review rating : 1out of 5   kcguy96863 - 03/06/2007

Recently at Bar Natasha, the show was OK, the drinks and food are a little bit overpriced but I guess someone has to pay for the atmosphere although I wish they would invest some money back into the sound system....yikes! Would have to agree with the last review...our drinks sat on empty anywhere from 10-15min which I could almost understand if it was busy but the place was barely half capacity!

  • Couldn't really recommend it..

    Review rating : 1out of 5   kcrunner27 - 02/28/2007

Been to Bar Natasha twice and both times had about the same experience. Slow drink service to the point I had to order my own drinks from the bartender only to have my waitress try and charge me for the drinks she brought as well as the ones I paid for at the bar. The food at Bar Natasha makes Chucky Cheese look like a fine dining experience. The shows are ok if its your first caberet show or just easily impressed. I generally try and support the community but in all honesty I didn't see much of the community there..look this place is just bad...don't go there...ever.

  • CONGRATS!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   ldyplrbear - 01/29/2007

Well...the results are in! AOL Cityguide has rated Bar Natasha among the top 5 in three categories, Best Bar, Cocktails and Happy Hour! Although we were thrilled to see our favorite night spot in the top five, I was a little surprised that the reviewer didn't realize that Bar Natasha is the BEST date bar as well as the BEST venue for live music. We celebrated a birthday last Friday night at Bar Natasha with a table of 15. Vi was wonderful, the food was wonderful and of course the entertainment was outstanding! Thanks again to the management and staff at Bar Natasha for a most enjoyable evening.

This place is WONDERFUL! I would come here every night if I could. The atmosphere is relaxing and refreshing. The staff is always friendly and engages in conversations with you. The music is divine! If you love music--jazz or anything else--you will love it here! Highly recommended!

  • Bar Natasha has class!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   jolie8002 - 11/25/2004

Bar Natasha has quickly become my favorite place to go in Kansas City. Bar Natasha has great food and music not to mention the wonderful atmosphere. The staff is over the top and the place is just classy without being stuck up. If you have no class please stay away from Bar Natasha. Sure you have to pay 25 cents more for a beer but if you are so super cheap that you cant do that then don't go. Don't expect some trashy gay bar. No drama here, just fun and good entertainment.

I've been to Natasha 5 times- We loved the piano music each time - The show tunes were ok the first time we went - But, it's not something I'd like to hear often or everytime - It gets goofy. A novelty - The sound in the place is horrible. I agree with the others that the drinks are pricey. Option B - drink coke all night the refills are free! Get there before 8:00 pm and avoid the cover charge. The food was ok. The big pluses - NO RAINBOW - Typical "gay" scene - That was nice for a change. I like the sofas. !! I like the art shows!!
