Barbecue, beer and live blues -- what could be better? Add a casual atmosphere and a friendly crowd, and you've got the recipe for a fine evening out. BB's slow-smokes meat over a hickory fire and serves it with special-recipe sauce, so dinner tastes as good as it sounds. The restaurant features live blues bands nightly and posts its schedule on the Web, but you don't need to check the calendar to be assured of a good time. The band of the day is always willing to provide a soundtrack for BB's friendly, fun-loving customers. And the barbecue pit provides the fuel. BB's pit was built in 1950 of granite stones. The granite holds an even heat over a hickory wood fire, so meat is slowly smoked to tender deliciousness. Should you need even more fuel than a plate of ribs can provide, you can supplement your meat with a cold beer or two, or give one of BB's made-from-scratch desserts a try. -- Anna Foote

    Seriously the best pulled pork I've ever had. Don't miss the beans, the gumbo, and the jambalaya (My fam's from Louisiana and the jambalaya at BB's is better than any I've had down on the bayou). The place is wicked kitschy, all old blues posters and long wood tables with red checkered tablecloths. Great place to go with friends for bbq and beer! Great live music, too.

    The Best Hickory Smoked Barbecue, the best sweet and tangy sauce, the best atmosphere, and the best live blues music! The Best of Kansas City all rolled into one. The complete experience!

    My boyfriend took me their one year and they had a charity event with numerous bands that played for an hour at a time, we bought some rib's and it reminded me of the rib's my Dad use to cook, these are AWESOME the best in K.C.

    BB's is a hidden gem amidst the scores of great BBQ joints in KC. A roadhouse feel, with a lip smackin' BBQ and cajun menu. The customers dine at long picnic type tables, so you may be dining next to strangers, but everyone is there to have a good time. Get there before 8 pm and avoid the cover charge, and still enjoy the music.
    The rack of ribs special on Thursday night is not to be missed.
