What makes this simple restaurant legendary? The sauce. Restaurant founder Arthur Bryant said, "I make it so you can put it on bread and eat it." And you could, though many folks prefer to pour it on some of Bryant's meat, which is slow smoked over hickory and oak wood. The restaurant is loved most for its short ribs, which are tender, smoky and just short of sublime. But no one complains about the sandwiches, which are good and huge.
Not sure which kind of meat you want? The combo plates are a good choice, because you'll get a variety. Finally, consider the sauce -- you'll have your choice of original or rich-n-spicy. If you don't know which you prefer, order your meat dry. There are bottles of sauce on each table, so you can slather to your liking. Bryant's keeps the sides simple -- choose from baked beans, fries and pickles. One drawback of Bryant's legendary status: During busy times, the lines can snake outside the door and around the building. But all those folks know the wait is well worth it. -- Anna Foote

If you can't appreiate the taste of AB's, you must have lost your taste buds( quit smoking, they'll come back). AB's is first and everyone else from Memphis to St Louie, to down south is a far second. Come hungry, leave satisfied.
Great BBQ
A real taste of the old south meets the west.
The people who work in the kitchen mean business and what they produce is really, really good. I stuffed myself silly here, it was great!
BBQ
AB might not have the fanciest digs, but the BBQ can't be beat! I recommend the sliced pork sandwich (share with someone, trust me!), the best beans on the planet (bits of brisket , beans and molasses all carmelized together) and use the fries to mop up the sauce. I like the hotter sauce but the original rocks, too! The sauce doesn't have high fructose corn syrup like the competition. This is old school Kansas City, enjoy!
Where's Danny Edwards?
Where is Danny Edward's BBQ on Southwest Boulevard. Recently relocated from hole-in-the-wall location (Jake's Eat it and Beat it) in downtown when the Sprint Center and Power & Light District ran them out. The best brisket sandwiches on the planet -- sliced thick, lean and so tender it melts in your mouth. Awesome! Puts Bryant's to shame.
