Unless you're a vegetarian, it would be hard not to find something you like at Phil's Bar-B-Cue. Think backyard picnic mixed with Italian restaurant and a dash of Lenten fish fry thrown in for good measure. As you walk in the screen door, the smell of barbecue sauce is overpowering. Immediately, you want a pork steak, and you want it now. But wait, ribs and chicken, bratwurst and... salmon? Yep. In addition to the barbecue standards, Phil's has fish plates, pizzas, mostaccioli, chili, salads and more. All these options can be viewed at the front of the restaurant where cooks stand behind the cafeteria-style counter. Tables are cozy, with plenty of booths available. The crowd is mostly families, since there's enough variety to cover everybody's tastes. Carryout is available and, for an additional charge, so is delivery. Phil's has a second location at 9205 Gravois Road.

Real old style bar-b-cue.

Sort of out of the way, but just the kind of place that you find really good bar-b-que. Worth the trip.

nenosorac2 - 07/02/2005Heard good things but it was very bad, food was bad, atmosphere was bad, people rude, too expensive. I think I heard the Eureka was was pretty good, but Gravois was bad.
BEST BAR-B-CUE IN SAINT LOUIS
elaine3156 - 06/18/2005I been going to Phils on 9205 Gravois for 30 years. It is the Best Bar-B-Que in St Louis. Everything they make is good, nice size portions and you get your moneys worth. If you've never been there, then your missing a good place to eat.

stlguy314soco - 01/31/2005I made the mistake of eating there recently. I remember eating there when i was younger it was real good. But the last time I went it was not very good for the prices they were asking. But I will not make that mistake again.

I think its under new ownership
stl63125guy - 01/26/2005I was a patron of that location for a long time was always nice neighborhood place. But I believe it was bought out by different people. The sauce does still seems unlike any other with a great taste . However the food quality is notthe same. Portions and quality of food have declined and was no longer a good deal. Perhaps i will try the Eureka location like suggested
