The mission of the City Coffee House & Creperie in Clayton is to prepare and serve ''tempting breakfasts and luncheons... in the French manner.'' The small storefront coffee shop's 17 tables fill quickly and the colorful chalkboards that list all of the crepes, quiches, sandwiches, soups, smoothies and specials are jammed with options. Some of those treats include the honey ham and Brie on a baguette, the market salad -- which comes topped with pineapple, mandarin oranges, grapes, apples, bleu cheese and poppy seed dressing -- and at least 33 different types of lunch/brunch or dessert crepes. The crepes are made right behind the counter and customers can watch them come off the griddle. All this and java addicts can rest assured that their espresso Neapolitan or Vermont roast, along with nine other coffee blends are on hand. This is Clayton, though, so parking is at a premium. -- Hillary Wicai

The creperie always has delcious crepes and a huge variety to choose from. The lines are usually very long on weekend mornings, and there is always a bit of a wait for the food. Its worth it though when you taste the food.

  • Over rated & poor service

I had an awful service experience they lost my order, I had to wait 1 hour, had to ask 3 people before someone could figure out what was going on, and no one apologized! Very disappointing. To top it off the food was bland, and coffee weak. This may fly in St. Louis, but wouldn't be open 1 month in a larger city like New York, San Francisco, or Chicago. So keep your expectations low and you might enjoy yourself.

This coffee house is always busy because of the quality provided. I have never had a bad experience no matter how crowded. A table has always opened up for me.The menu is so extensive that there is always something new to try. And I have never had a bad cup of Capp here.

  • Disgusting and dirty

I went in on saturday to get a cappuccino, someone had to be brought out of the dishwashing line as no one up front could use the espresso machine. As I waited for a long while I had plenty of time to observe that the machine and steam wand hadn't been cleaned in a long time(Milk foam was caked on). My Capp was awful and my father in laws irish cream Capp had a bout 1/2 a bucket of syrup. I also got a chance to see sandwich making area, I defineatly wouldn't eat here either.
    Beware!!

  • You have to visit this place!

My husband and I visited St. Louis on a weekend and stopped by the Creperie the first morning. I was wowed by their menu selection (over 32 different kinds of crepes!) and upscale drink choices. Needless to say, we came back the very next morning. One crepe I ordered had strawberries, banana, coconut and another had banada brown sugar, and maple. But don't think crepes are just for breakfast - they have crepes for lunch and dinner, too! And every crepe is absolutely enormous - neither my husband nor I could finish either of our dishes!
