Known simply as Punch by locals, this little spot in Highland Park is owned and operated by Italian-born restaurateur John Soranno. Twin City residents simply love their Punch Pizza and know a good slice when they taste it. The pizza's popularity can be credited to the high quality ingredients. The cooks use crushed tomatoes imported from Naples, as well as red peppers, mushrooms and olives from the Mediterranean.
All of the pies are cooked inside a wood-burning brick oven and come in either Chicago deep-dish or New York thin-crust styles. Along with pizzas, this eatery also serves Caesar salads, chocolate turtle tortes, calzones and panini. The atmosphere is extremely casual, with a couple dozen tables tightly squeezed into one dining room. All items are available for either dine-in or takeout. -- Amie Leavitt

disappointed
Tried it for lunch, mid afternoon so not busy. The crust was burnt so it was hard to taste the ingredients, which were kind of sparce for a four topping pie. Just eating off the top they seemed fresh, just not enough.

A long wait to be seated but worth it. I suspect if they moved into bigger digs their quality would change. Happens many times
Fabulous
Finally got to check out what all the fuss was about and it was...unbelievably tasty. The flavors of both pizzas were so different and excellent, we couldn't believe we waited so long to try Punch's. We will be back.
Get it "Wet"
This tiny spot doesn't deliver, but it is worth the trip for a hot pie in less than five minutes. You'll never order in again.
These char-bottemed beauties are one of a kind. The ingrediants are fresh and delicious from the buffalo mozzarella to the imported San Marzano tomatoes. The "wet" option of having extra tomatoes and olive oil is fantastic!
My favorite is the basic Margherita with cheese, tomato and basil - it is a taste of old Italy.Excellent!!
Food is great - hot, well spiced - delicious. Atmosphere is excellent - 'big city in the quiet neighbourhood'. You'll need to wait for a table but the wait is worth it. Chat with the table next to you - have a glass of their wine whilst they taste yours.

Is Punch Woodfire Pizza different than Punch Neapolitan Pizza in Eden Priaire. I know it's the same owner but on here it sounds a bit different. Punch Neapolitan Pizza in Eden Prairie is amazing, I love it! Once you eat there you will develop Punch cravings it's so good!
N/A

This is a very nice establishment. I am Italian. My father is from Avellino Italy and we had a pizza place when I was growing up. I've also cooked at Giorgio's former restaurant Hosteria Fiorentina, Broders Cucina and Chez Paul so I feel I have gotten the gist of the cooking process. It's not so gourmet that you can't take the kids but its not your standard slice either. It's a casual environment with good flavor from quality ingredients and good workmanship on the part of those talented pizza tossers. I would give it five stars if they tossed to music.
