By finding your way to this little joint you'll become part of an almost-secret society of burger lovers. Located across the street from Cretin-Derham High School, the 30-seat neighborhood bar and grill has been around for quite awhile, but you probably wouldn't know it unless you frequent the area. The late Mickey Brausen, known for her homemade eats and straight-up personality, put The Nook on the map, and more recent owners have only improved on the bar's propensity to please. Sandwiches, hand-cut fries and other bar fare favorites are a notch above what you'll get from many bar kitchens. The Nook is considered by many as the best place for burgers, whether it's their version of the Juicy Lucy or any of the other beefy burgers (all served on fresh-baked buns) that regulars and first-timers find so satisfying. The barkeeps provide a steady flow of popular beers, wines and cocktails at prices that match those of the budget-friendly food menu. Expect a comfortable, glad-to-see-you attitude from staff and local patrons alike.
