The largest nightclub in the Twin Cities became a reality after an outlay of megabucks (reportedly $15 million) and the discovery of an unusual venue site. Formerly a Just For Feet store, this three-story concert hall gives new meaning to the phrase, because capacity is a staggering 4,400 patrons, which is a lot of feet. Located on the rim of Maplewood Mall, Myth is not only giving music houses like First Avenue and Quest a run for their money, but may also cut itself a slice of the big concert pie usually designated for the downtown arenas. Expect familiar names like those booked before the club even opened, including Queensryche, Billy Idol, and My Chemical Romance. (Music biz giant Clear Channel handles the talent bookings.) A wide stage and good sight lines everywhere translate into money's-worth experiences on all three seating levels, main floor, VIP booths and a few skyboxes for big spenders. Dance nights are Wed.-Sun., when no bands are booked; the cities' top DJs and all-ages nights means very diverse music genres. A large upper level bar fuels the crowd at a furious pace, and music is piped to a rooftop patio where some guests cool off.
