The Classic All-American Breakfast has 'em lined up at the gates of Hell's Kitchen as early as 6:30AM. This may be due, in part, to the fact that this version of Hell is strategically located across the street from Target's World Headquarters, but as its motto says, it offers damn good food. After a few tweaks to the original menu, Hell's owner's Steve Meyer and Mitch Omer have settled into a comfortable compromise between what Minnesotans expect and what the two former Lowell Inn chefs think Minnesotans should try. Case in point: Hell's Mahnomin Porridge -- native wild rice with blueberries, sweetened cranberries, roasted hazelnuts, maple syrup and fresh cream. If this is Hell, let the sinning begin! Non-morning people may have a little trouble waking up to the hellish red decor and the occasional stuffed vulture, but since breakfast is served until 10:30AM, late risers have nothing to fear.

I'm a breakfast nut and have never, ever had such a good breakfast. You owe it to yourself to see why this joint is so popular.

Great fresh-squeezed OJ, rich coffee black as Hell, gorgeous fresh fruit garnish each plate, unusual dishes carefully prepared...If you like Gary Larson cartoons and great food, you will forgive a bit of a wait on busy days.

  • BEST BEST BEST!!!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   danaandannie - 04/01/2007

I stumbled upon this little eatery because not only did my hotel doorman say I was in for a treat, but then my lunch appointment said not to miss it before I left town. I travel coast to coast far too much, and have become used to breakfast joints serving the same old same old over and over...until now. Check out their menu; and the decor is cheeky, not over the top or at all hellish. Humorous artwork stops people in their tracks. Can't WAIT to go back to Minneapolis. (And don't understand those cranks who have no sense of humor or are too cheap to understand food quality...you truly get what you pay for.)

We waited over an hour to get seated. It took 20 min. be for we even seen a waiter.By the time we got our breakfast they were serving lunch. We got there at 8:30am! The waiters were rude and the food was the most yukiest I ever had. I Think we shall never go back here ever again,

  • Wonderful Adventure Awaits

If you have an adventurous spirit and enjoy great culinary pleasures don't let the name or decor scare you away. Get a life, the vulture is only a stuffed animal..like a childs toy! The Porridge is wonderful as are all of the entrees I have had on numerous visits. I'm sorry the place has become so popular because I now need to wait to enjoy the damn good food. I love the French Roast coffee and the eclectic wait staff! The sign in the bathroom about the ancient plumbing is also a hoot. Love you, love your food, love the great wait staff too! The food may be higher priced than everyday places like Keys, but believe me it is True...you get what you pay for. Go, enjoy yourself, it will be worth it!

  • Grossed out customer!

    Review rating : 2out of 5   gjtennis90 - 01/11/2006

I was there recently to eat or try to eat I might say. The food was good, but I lost my appetite with the decor around me. The sickly, scrawny vulture sitting on a branch near made it difficult to eat. Not to mention the waiter at the entrance who looked like he had a fatal disease. Unless you like eating in a dark creepy place I would not recommend it.
