The barbecue may not challenge whatever tops your 'Best I've Ever Had' list -- it's often a hit-and-miss dining encounter -- but what's lacking in food superiority is made up for in fun and friendly, expert service. Every venue is cheerful and ideal for families, couples or the after-work gang. Besides ribs, there's a little of everything on the menu, including catfish, beef brisket, pulled chicken sandwiches and burgers. Groups can order rib ''feasts'' and kids get their own menu. Portions are ample enough to make you think twice about ordering dessert or another brew.
