Entering its third decade, the Dakota has long been a favorite of jazz legends as well as patrons who savor the best of both art forms, the virtuosity of kitchen and bandstand. You can eat in the dining room and enjoy music second-hand from the adjacent club room; but you can also enjoy the music in the intimate club while making selections from either the bar or dining room menu?the best of both worlds. Patrons must note that online reservations through OpenTable apply to the dining room only. For show information and club reservations please call.

Great place
We went last night to see Wallace Roney. He was a bit out there, but we had a great time. Nice atmosphere, great service, excellent food and drinks. A great place to hang out if you're over 30 and don't want to be bothered by the meat-market crap....
Add CommentRare find - amazing food/music

I travel a lot, and I've never found anything like this. The room is really beautiful - not glitzy, but it does dazzle. It's stylish and warm. There are two sides to it - the restaurant has a new chef, and I'd have to say the food is as good as I've had anywhere. Creative combinations, and really wonderful flavors and beautiful presentation. (The walleye was phenominal.) From next door in the Jazz Club, we could hear this great band 's music drifting into the dining room. I loved the whole feel! Great wine list. My only comment is that I like ports, and would've liked a bigger selection. But the overall experience and combined quality - atmosphere, food, and music - was unlike anything I've seen anywhere else. (We also had a wonderful server - Amber - who knew her stuff and made us feel like regulars.)

Greatly over-rated. Chefs seem to feel food is inherantly good if the combination of ingredients is either strange or exotic. Food is average at best.

the walleye was icredable but the menu lacked anything else. Overpriced , old yuppies will love it
Jaz's Review

I visit the Dakota all of the time. I have not been to a better venue for jazz. I take out of town guests there and they all love the Dakota and ask to visit when they return to Minnesota.
Gary & Ruth's Review

7/28/99. Food was attractively presented and flavorful. We had the duck, others had the pork. As usual, singer Debbie Duncan was great. Food, service, wine, jazz. What else could be provided besides S--.
FHarstad's Review

The creativity of the flavors is gastronomic genious. The room is a prefect blend of warmth, space, and acoustics. The service is a step ahead of your needs, professional, unpretentious and never interuptive. The wine list and after-dinner selection is beautiful. And of course the jazz -not unlike the proprietor- is world class.

I am the minnesotagaming.com dining and entertianment critic. I did a review about a year ago at Dakota and WOW was it great food. The Ceaser is out of this world but the duck steamed wantons got the award. I gave them 4 stars for both music and food. I got a huge responce on my write up that is still posted. I urge you to TRY THEM out and stay for the jaz.
CT's Review

Sorry -- we've got to disagree with the general consensus. Great atmosphere, but we were underwhelmed by the food -- Caesar dressing was overpowering, and the rest of the food (although it sounded appetizing) was EXTREMELY bland. Hope it was just an off night, but we won't be back to try again -- too expensive to risk it again.
