Way before the I35E ran through East St. Paul, Italians and non-Italian folks alike headed down Payne Avenue to the original Carbone's on 7th for the good stuff. That means everything from olive oil and fresh bread to pasta and pizza. The market part of the operation closed up after many years, but the restaurant continued to build a dining legacy. Now there are more than a dozen Carbone's stores around the Twin Cities, each with a slightly different ambience and varying hours, but all have the one element that is true to tradition: really outstanding pizza. Each pie is a composition of Old World sauce and crust recipes and a range of fresh ingredients that give it distinctive taste and personality. Pastas and some American dishes are served at most outlets, but the pizza is the main attraction. You can eat in or have it delivered (or pick it up like they did in the old days). And regardless of the restaurant's expansion around the Cities, this pizza surpasses chain outlet taste and quality.

  • the best pizza!!!

Carbones has the best pizza by far in the twin cities. Oven baked, real cheese, fresh toppings. And their own sausage recipe! Broadway is very close, but I still prefer Carbones/ Green MIll isnt as good as people say. Way over priced for the quality

carbone's on randolph in st. paul is by far the worst imatation of a pizza I have ever tasted in a long time. sauce tastes like it came out of a campbell soup can, tomato soup that is.so the sauce tastes like barf, there is a enough grease on it,to grease all the bearings on my car. the crust is thin enough to pass for the host at communiun time in church. we ate there today on 5-06-05, because my wife had a craving for this garbage. now I'm sick to my stomach sitting on the toilet. the waitress there was non-existent pretty much, a student our girl recognizes from cretin high school. we paid our bill of 21.00 and no one asked how are meal was. my wife would have told them what she thought, but kept quiet we will never eat there again signed sick in st. paul

I think the ranking is true to where it belongs in the line of the competition. I would love to see them take the extra greace out, then maybe we get close to the best--Broadway.

  • Great great pizza!

Without doubt the most underrated Pizza in town. Their wonderfully baked, zesty pies will have you coming back again. Nice to see the high ranking-it's well deserved.
