The only reason Red Oak isn't rated overall # 1 Best Steak House is because it's not in the "Big City" but rather off the beaten track up in the northern suburbs...don't waste your time drive north!

What an unexpected treasure. This restaurant not only has a quiet atmosphere, outstanding menu choices that are far from the usual--duck, boar--unique specials and excellent steas with a fair price. Tom Katt, is the owner and host and visits your table with the specials. This is a restaurant you will visit frquently because you can count on consistency.It's our favorite-Jan Thietje

Consistently Great Place to Go

We've been going to the Red Oak for several years, usually about three times a month. Love the food...all outstanding including steak, fish, porkchops, salads, potatoes, vegetables, rice, bread...everything. Enjoy both the dining area and the bar. We arrived late one weekday night when John (who has worked there as long as we've been going there) was literally just locking the doors. He saw us and welcomed us in. Assured us that it was no problem to open the kitchen back up and took care of us completely. It is by far our favorite place to go.

50th anniversary party

We had our 50th anniversary dinner here with 20 ofour friends and family members. When 22 people order off the menu it covers a good portion of the menu. Every person in our party extremely pleased with the complete dinner. Salad was excellent, vegetables were crisp,hot and flavorful. The steaks were done to perfection and the fish (walleye,salmon) was excellent. No one in our party had been there before except the two of us. Many commented that they were looking forward to returning

I have been there several times and the meals and service have always been top shelf. I've been dinning at steakhouses and supper clubs for 40 years and feel this is as good as any. Some may have slightly (and I mean slightly) better grades of meat but the overall quality and service are great. his is a place that I have taken friends and business associates to and most have gone back again on their own

Pleasantly surprised when we walked in! Definately satisfied when we left! Our friends told us about the Red Oak. We are glad they did! The atmosphere is warm and invitinig. The staff exceptionally friendly and welcoming! The food was wonderful! We will be back!

wonderful service,great atmosphere,and a excellent selection of wines and liquers. I had the Elk shish-kababs and it was fantastic. Finally a restaurant in the north metro that does seasonal cuisine!

Amazing Food and More

Just ate here the other night and was one of the best meals I've had in a long time! I like the wild game specials that were offered and they lived up to their expectations. We enjoyed dining there and had a great staff taking care of us including the bartenders and servers. I will definitely be back soon and can't wait to enjoy a relaxing night out with friends and family here!
