Every weekend for the past decade, metro Detroit's weekend warriors have flocked to this rockin' block in Royal Oak to throw back cocktails and soak up the live rock and blues. In this time Fifth Avenue has really made its mark, as so many legends have graced its corner stage. Check out the photos covering the long walls: Robert Whitehall Jr. from Big City Blues Magazine has captured shots of performers ranging from Ben Harper to R. L. Burnside jamming just inches from the crowd. Already up-and-slamming in Novi, Fifth Avenue opened another location at Comerica Park, replete with more live music and an outdoor deck.
The Fifth Avenue flagship (on Fifth Avenue in Royal Oak) features 19 pool tables and two perfectly placed dartboards. Table time will set you back $12 an hour, but it's an easy split with other players. Bar fare is available if you need a late-night burger or slice of pie, but the uber- cool upstairs and downstairs bars are mostly used for the consumption of reasonably priced drinks.

Cool club. Chick that bartends upstairs, usually at South bar thinks she's "all that", it seems. It's like I'm an inconvenience to get a drink. Snobby. Being an ex-bartender, I do tip well. That chick took a few bucks off the bar and put it in her jar. Wait 'til it's in the well, honey, for Pete's sake! Sorry to rip on her, but it distracted from my very good impression of the place.
Agua's Review

Fifth Avenue, Royal Oak, is the best, small, live music venue in the state. The cool "vibe", and ample size makes for intimate, yet dynamic shows. Whether it's blues, R&B, or acid jazz, Fifth Avenue fits the bill.
