Long a west side staple, this classic Chinese place, with its mindful service, painfully Eastern decor and gargantuan menu, does plenty to set itself apart from the tens of dozens of Chinese restaurants in metro Detroit. Seemingly countless options, from your standard chow mein, chop suey and fried rice dishes, to delicacies like Imperial Fish (sliced, breaded and browned fish served in light sauce with veggies on top) or the zing of the Curry Chicken (chicken chunks and green pepper, onion, mushrooms, peas, diced carrots and diced bamboo with curry sauce). More than 100 options are available. And while takeout is typically the way to go with Chinese food, staying for the sit-down option is its own little treat, with high-backed booths, moderate and comfortable lighting, and attention to detail in its classic interior design.
