If this is the New Peking, we don't want to know what the Old Peking was like. Long a west side staple, this classic Chinese place, with its mindful service, painfully Eastern decor and gargantuan menu, does plenty to set itself apart from the tens of dozens of Chinese restaurants in metro Detroit. Seemingly countless options, from your standard chow mein, chop suey and fried rice dishes, to delicacies like Imperial Fish (sliced, breaded and browned fish served in light sauce with veggies on top) or the zing of the Curry Chicken (chicken chunks and green pepper, onion, mushrooms, peas, diced carrots and diced bamboo with curry sauce). More than 100 options are available. And while takeout is typically the way to go with Chinese food, staying for the sit-down option is its own little treat, with high-backed booths, moderate and comfortable lighting, and attention to detail in its classic interior design.

    I've eaten here a few times over the last ten years and each time I wonder why I go back. Never again. I've given their food a few chances and every time they have dissapointed me. Bland, tasteless and below average food.

    Best Chinese restaurant in the metro detroit area!! I am an Asian American and New Peking serves up fresh authentic flavors like my mom's cooking. The restaurant is well lit with friendly service. I especially like their Ma Pao Tofu with minced pork, fried pot stickers and Dry Garlic Beef.

    i love this place ..heard about it word of mouth... try the dry cooked string beans and the peking chicken... so yummy, you'll keep going back for more !

    I have been patronizing the restaurant for years, but, the last few visits have been disappointing. Food quality has suffered. In my opinion this once was the best Chinese restaurant in the area, but they are taking things for granted and the quality has slipped.

    I make it a point to try a new dish about every third time I go. Every dish has a unique flavor that makes it an adventure in eating. My favorites are their Crabmeat Rangoon for an appetizer, and the Spicy Beef Tenderloin, or General Tso's Chicken for the main course. I then wash it down with some Tsing Tao Beer or their excellent tea. I can highly recommend the New Peking to anyone and everyone that craves good Chinese Cuisine.
