It's Monday night and your stomach rumbles ruthlessly. For delicious bargain eats, follow the trail of arty types, rockers and students for the Woodward Avenue Brewery's half-off night. While it boasts an eclectic menu bound fashionably with Michigan license plates, the WAB menu is not the only reason to stop by. Seven in-house brewed taps, ranging from raspberry blonde to porter, draw a loyal, unique clientele to sip beer from customized pints amongst local art hung on the exposed brick of the kitschy loft-style upstairs. Downstairs, the blue tinge of holiday lights illuminate the smaller room which functions as an open-air hangout when the mercury rises.

Opened in 1997, the WAB has since skyrocketed to the top of Ferndale's heap. And with good reason. It's the place to be seen whether you're shooting pool, maneuvering the room's staircases or jamming out with a local band: all, of course, with a brew in hand. The WAB is hip, but not pretentious, and a great spot to get to know someone over a couple of porters or pale ales.
