Some say it's the meat, some say it's the atmosphere. Whatever the case may be, the secret behind the burgers at Miller's Bar has lasted and worked for decades. At Miller's, something can be said for simplicity. You won't find burgers doused in special sauces, topped with onion straws or pineapple, or stacked atop one another to form a three-dimensional cholesterol nightmare. What you will get is probably the tastiest burger you'e ever had with all of the basics, wrapped in paper and served up the old-time way sans a bill. When you're done with your meal, you'll be asked to pay by the honor system. How cool is that? And don't be dissuaded by a line at lunch or the dinner hour. Miller's is popular, but the staff is seasoned and up to the challenge of cranking out burgers with the quickness.

If you want a great tasting burger and not atmosphere, try Roys on Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti. The best burger in the State. Ask for the big squeese or the big squeeze with cheese. You won't be disappointed.

  • Red Coat Vs. Millers? Millers is #1

    Review rating : 5out of 5   Imstewart - 08/29/2008

I worked in Dearborn for 18 years and in Royal Oak for 9 years and have frequented both places (and tried many other burger joints) and Millers is by far the #1 tasting burger in Detroit. Nothing fancy, just a great basic buger, wrapped and served in paper. Waitresses are very busy and work hard so they may not be the most sociable but they are friendly, they get your order right and get your food to the table efficiently. I don't know what it is about their burgers which are simply cooked on a solid flat flameless grill but they are perfect. You can't go wrong here ordering a cheeseburger, onion rings and a cold beer. 5 Stars!

Moved to North Carolina 12 years ago an still talk about going to Miller's as often as possible.
When we get back to the area we try to get there. One of maybe two restaurants where I'll stand in line.
