Forget those big boxy buildings and national chains who hand you pagers, then beep you when your table is ready. This is Talita's: the oldest, cheapest, quickest and quite possibly best-tasting trip you can make south of the border without leaving the capital city. Christopher Winkler, general manager and nephew of founders Tony and Talita Prince, says that they are "proud to be imitated, but sorry we can't be duplicated," and this is definitely true. The atmosphere is stained-glass and wood carvings, yet also boothy and down-home Mexican -- casual like a neighborhood favorite in Guadalajara. The food is authentically spicy, but they also have an extensive Italian menu (pasta, subs) with a few surprises (hot dogs). It's all good though, and a few things are constants -- the prices are low (most under $6), the service is friendly (Christopher is almost always there to see to that), and the takeout is first rate. All these reasons, coupled with their 40 years of history as Columbus' first, make Talita's a great place for a family or a date.

Talita's
For those who don't know this - Talita's went out last fall, it's now under newer management, and not nearly as good as Talita's once was - however - if you want food as good as Talita's - her son runs a mexican place in Grove City

I love Mexican food. Talita's is BY FAR the worst mexican food, nay, the worst FOOD I have ever had in my entire life. As a former server I try to be lenient with servers and cooks but good GOD. The meat was greenish, they ****** up my girlfriend's order, and never even noticed because we just wanted to get the hell out of there. The chips are thick, cold, and bright yellow and remind me of a cheap food court perhaps at an airport. Waitress never came to check and see if the food was alright, not that I really blame her because I wouldn't be proud of serving it. And she was horribly ugly. I'm sorry but I feel I have to mention this. She made us both lose our appetites a bit before we even got our green meat concoction. After trying a couple of bites of our food we told her we just wanted to leave, and upon consulting with the head scientist.....I mean cook.....we were told by the troll of a server "She's sorry you feel this way" and told that we did not have to pay for the food.........but we DID have to pay for the diet coke. I guess they must have needed that $1.75 quite badly. I award Talita's no points. And may God have mercy on their souls.
Good food, BAD service!
The night I recently went there, it wasn't at all crowded. However, it took a LONG time to get waited on, and even longer to get the meals! And our server just REEKED of cigarettes and was rather unkempt, like some of the other servers we've had there in the past. Then we were never checked on again until our bill came! The server was very abrupt and rude, so therefore was lucky to have gotten a tip at all. The food is really good, and so are the margaritas; get some cleaner, friendlier servers or you won't last forever!
Horrible service !
My wife and I went here after the Buckeye game and the place was half full. We sat ourself as the sign at the door said , Fifteen minutes and still not not a greet or even a will be right with you .WE GOT UP AND LEFT AND AS WE GOT TO THE DOOR THEY ASKED WAS THEIR A PROBLEM.!HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!
