Northern New Mexican cuisine differs from its sister, Mexican cuisine, in that it is generally spicier and more flavorful. Chile Verde Cafe, located in the Carriage Place Shopping center, is the creation of two local women who search the Southwest for just the right mix of food and spices. Come hungry because portions are enormous. Try the crab cakes and see if you agree with The Grumpy Gourmet, who rated them the best cafe Columbus has to offer. The eatery is also known for its salsa, made fresh from Mexican tomatoes. And for those who really like it hot, the cafe offers habanero chiles, one of the hottest in the world. It also carries a good selection of Mexican beers and margaritas, stirred up with rare tequilas. The quaint, comfortable restaurant is family-friendly with a kids' menu. Reservations are not accepted but call ahead to get on the waiting list.

Without a doubt, the best around! My wife and I LOVE their salsa, queso and the Enchilada Enstancia. I am always telling people to try it out. I only wish they were open on Sundays.....but hey.....everyone needs a day of rest. ;-)

Chile Verde has it all. Wonderful food, great service from a very friendly staff. Best margaritas in town. The owner Tom is terrific, outgoing, funny and caring. This restaurant is NUMBER #1 in our book and should be NUMBER #1 for all of Columbus Ohio.

While it took several minutes before the staff figured out who our waiter would be, we were finally greeted with an apology, several baskets of chips and salsa and complimentary queso dip. The service from that point on was excellent. I did not enjoy my seafood chimichanga (not a lot of taste) but everyone else's dishes were full of flavor and beautifully presented. My only complaint is that I should've ordered something else!
