This local restaurant group helped introduce Washingtonians a few years ago to the glories of the Vietnamese soup bowl, the pho. Now pho places are all the rage in the metro area, and the Pho 75 group continues to delight diners. Who would ever have guessed that so many Westerners would fall in love with this hearty, inexpensive meal-in-a- bowl? The plan is fairly simple, though some soup places also offer other dishes besides. But this group sticks to the basics: order your beef soup with a choice of meat combinations and in small or large bowls. Your order comes with chopsticks, soup spoon, and loads of veggies: It's up to you to add the chopped chilies, cilantro, and chili sauce to your taste. Then enjoy-and remember, this is popular breakfast food in Vietnam.

  • No Longer The Best

    Review rating : 1out of 5   jffrysmit - 02/22/2007

I cannot understand how time and time again this place gets rated the best. Are the people that review this lazy or will they just not try a different Pho restaurant? This place is also NOT the cleanest Pho restaurant in our area... and your body WILL tell you that after your meal.

If you are in Virginia, try one of these two:

Viet House Restaurant - 6226 Richmond Highway, Alexandria. Consistently excellent!

Pho King - 3108 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Alexandria. The name may have you wondering if this is for real. It is, and it is Pho King excellent as well. Also serving a limited Thai and Lao menu!

Pho 75 is old news and no longer at the top of its game. Move on folks there are other Pho places out there that are far better.

  • Not the Best Pho but very good

    Review rating : 4out of 5   superflysmoothc - 02/15/2007

Guys, try this pho rest yourself.. For newbies. Pho is vietnamese beef noodle soup. This location I recalled when it was first opened, use to give a lot of noodles and beef flank. Since they became huge because they're located across from Montgomery College, theyre pho went kinda downhill. The taste is still good, however, they over load it with MSG and they've been cutting back the supply and demand. You get more of the soup and less meat and less noodle. They also jacked their pho up which used to cost $5.00 for a large bowl but now $6.50. Try it out, but Virgina Pho 75 taste better and offer you more.

  • THIS PLACE RULES

    Review rating : 5out of 5   eddude1723 - 11/12/2006

This restaurant is very good. There are many different types of soups you can pick from. I love this pho. It is better than a lot of other places I have tried. Sometimes in pho you see little bubbles of oil, but in the pho at Pho 75 you don't get that. It is great food, for not much money. Theres nothing you can lose! For a beverage, I suggest Young Coconut. The service is extremely good and very fast.

  • MSG Soup

    Review rating : 2out of 5   elissarak - 11/07/2006

Of course, it tastes good ... MSG fools the taste buds into thinking anything tastes good. Notice how many reviewers describe it as "addictive" - this is not about the quality, this is a chemical reaction induced by monosodium glutumate. If you want TRULY good pho, try the MSG-free version at Green Papaya in Bethesda.

  • Not Just For Viets Anymore

    Review rating : 5out of 5   i8adogl3 - 07/14/2006

I LOVE Pho... order a large bowl of Pho Tai and ask them to add some Bo... I personally don't like the chicken. Order something besides pho to eat also because it's like alot of other asian foods... you get hungry again in an hour. If you want to try an asian drink/desert try the lychees in iced syrup.
