If smoky goodness is your passion, beat a path to the door of Mr. Chelsea's Barbecue in the Painters Mills Shopping Center. Don't be misled by the line snaking through the small ordering area - it's merely other like-minded souls craving their fix. In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to get your to-go order out of the tiny dining room before falling to the tempting aroma. Jazz up hickory-smoked brisket, savory Carolina pulled pork or fun-and-sloppy barbecue with your choice of sweet-and-tangy Alabama-style, tart Arkansas mustard or spicy red sauces (grab a bottle to go). Slow-smoked chicken, dry-rubbed St. Louis-style pork ribs and beef brisket come in large or small portions, depending on your appetite. For family dining, choose a couple of racks of ribs or brisket or pulled pork by the pound. Side dishes may be an afterthought at some places, but not in Mr. Chelsea's kitchen, where round pans of cornbread behind the ordering line glass will leave you salivating. Baked fresh mac and cheese, Chicago-style pit beans (three types with chilis, onions, peppers, smoked meats, molasses and secret sauce), crunchy cole slaw, New Orleans-style green bean salad and seasoned collard greens are worthy companions to your BBQ entre.

classic southern style you'll feel like you're down south

Hey - this is my first time making a review for AOL and I'm sure that the Baltimore community will appreciate and want to visit Mr. Chelsea's BBQ now! I tried their pulled pork sandwiches on many occassions and I love it, especially with honey mustard. The sides are all fun to eat, and are so classic southern style you'll feel like you're down south. Don't miss ordering at Mr. Chelsea's for your summer parties, holidays, catering, and everyday!
~LeslieAdd CommentIts been a while.

Haven't been to this place for while but I am glad I made the effort. Ribs were outstanding and much better than the run of mill chain restaurants. The person with me had the beef BBQ and said it was a very good sandwich.
I will definetly keep coming back.SO MEAN and NOT-SO CLEAN
After one trip to the Owings Mills location, (I pray there's not more than one) I need NOT go near there again. From the dirty table tops, to the over-priced, under-plentished, tasteless sandwiches, the total experience was: TRUELY ..................ONCE-IN-A-LIFE-TIME! I've been in 3rd World Countries that had better, cleaner road-side eateries. The staff, including the owner, were RUDE! GOD FORBID you should complain, you may be shot... (with a sticky bottle of sauce, if they don't charge you extra for it) Save your money and your time, there are too many other places to eat. ONE OF THE WORST MEALS EVER! You won't miss a thing, AVOIDING MR. CHELSEA and his version of BBQ!
Burp... YUM!!!!
The name! The Q! The sauce! The onion rings! The skillet cornbread! That's good eatin'. You can't go wrong.
Don't leave town without it.

When you just have to have good Q this place can't be beat.
Their brisket is juicy and tender and the special sauce makes a great compliment. They only have one kind of rib to choose but it is very good.
This is a samall place but worth the visit. They know what they are doing. This is the best!

I have eaten BBQ all over and this is the best. The Pit Beans are incredible as well as the greens.
Don't leave witbout trying the skillet cornbread.Mmmmmmm! Mr. Chelsea's BBQ
