This barbecue joint isn't shy. A huge sign on the roof of The Corner Stable proclaims: The Best Ribs in Baltimore. Their Web site claims they have the best crab cakes in town, not an idle boast in the city that for all practical purposes invented them. But many people believe this Cockeysville institution has the best takeout, too. It's hard to argue against that because a steady stream of traffic passes by their takeout window day and night, lining up for mouthwatering baby back ribs, tender broasted chicken and jumbo crab cakes. And when we say joint, we mean that it the nicest way. The decor at the comfy Stable isn't upscale -- wagon wheel chandeliers, ancient, scarred wooden booths -- but, if you're fussy about that kind of thing, the food will make you forget it. The waitresses are friendly and they make you feel right at home here. -- Penny Colston

The corner stable is the BEST place to get ribs in Maryland. My fiance and I go at least once a month. The prices are reasonable and the service is top notch!

Rncarhart - 06/03/2008Five stars aren't enough. The Corner Stable makes the best ribs and barbeque I have ever had. Even their side dishes, like baked beans, are a real treat, as are the desserts. This is a best bet for a delightful dinner!

Great Food, Great Service
derangedtruth - 09/14/2006I have been going to the Stable for just over a year now and the food I think is excellent. The Ribs are the best that I've ever had and the Crab Cakes are outstanding. The service there is very good. They all are very friendly and most have been there long enough to remember you. The place has gotten much better than it used to be. Monday's are best to go for the Monday night special but anytime is a good time to go there.
Dark, dingy, crappy
backstopbob89 - 05/29/2006I was dumbfounded on my first trip to the oft-raved-about Stable as to how it got its undeserved rep. Cry-o-vac'ed ribs from the supermarket are better. My idea of ribs is not to have them slathered with some sickeningly sweet goo and accompanied by supermarket side dishes.
I even went back once more to be sure.
Baltimore knows crabs and pit beef, but they don't know bar-be-que. There is one good BBQ place in town that I've found...and this isn't it.
